Finally...I get a good look at the Lovell GMT..

My interest and research into watches is confined to a very small area occupied by the watches worn during the Gemini and Apollo missions by astronauts.

I have seen two images of Jim Lovell wearing his Rolex GMT but neither were great and neither could be enhanced without serious distortion to get a good look a the GMT.

This image below has been my favorite of him with the crew of Apollo 8. They all look ready for the job and Lovell's pose with the jacket and the shinny new GMT on the wrist has always been my favorite.

Now....Finally a good look at the GMT that he has worn over the years. I received my images from a signing he did, that I participated in, and low and bold the pictures I have been hoping to see after countless hours scouring the internet arrived yesterday.

What a great looking well worn GMT. It also appears that the dial has a Naval Academy crest printed on it at the 9 o'clock position. If this watch could talk, I bet it would tell some great stories.

The only problem with this watch is that it has that horrible crest on it. Lovell is a great American, but he should have attended USMA!

This was really interesting. It's nice to see a watch get worn over the years and see how well it's held up. Looks really good with that faded bezel. Thanks for sharing.
