Blackbay AD discount?

Did some shopping yesterday. Being in nyc options were limited to tourneau and wempe.. Wempe was willing to do a 5% discount, can these be had at an AD for a better deal? Only other option is to head to Jersey where I would think there's some more wiggle room? Thanks for any words

Something about getting that first watch brand new at an AD has me.. But I suppose the 6-800 savings for something bnib is worthwhile.. Then that opens up the whole why not just buy a mint sub for slightly more. (This watch bug is no joke..)

Understood.. Love the Blackbay, just worried I'm going to wish I went with the always classic submariner a few years from now. I suppose you just can't keep thinking about these things or you'll keep wanting something else. Loved the way the Blackbay felt and looked, time to pull off the bandaid

The AD here in Dallas was willing to discount the red, but not the blue because it was new. I didn't push too hard because I wanted to buy a used one.

So maybe if you wait until after Basel when it is no longer considered the new kid on the block you might get a better deal.

Smaller independent Ads are usually willing to give more of a discount if you're wanting to go through an AD. Don't expect much of a discount in NYC.

If you can afford it, get the sub. Otherwise, you'll always regret it and wind up trading it in for a loss. If you can't afford the sub, then enjoy what you can.

If you're thinking of a sub, save the money and get what you really want... just my two cents!

BB blue now, sub down the road, you'll never tire of blue on/in a watch and everyone needs a rough and tumble beater when they have a full blown collection...

The AD I spoke with offered $2800 + tax or ship out of state to avoid the tax.

DavidSW's web site is unbelievable. Wow.

Both the red and blue are "casual" watches in my opinion. Particularly the versions with distressed leather straps. Even if you get a decent deal on a new one you are still going to have immediate depreciation. I ended up dealing on a really pristine pre-owned red that I am very happy with. Face it - after a dozen or so casual wears the strap will be broken in on the setting you establish and there will (may) be a few desk buffs. If you buy it new it will soon be in pre-owned condition so why overpay for it.
