Stolen

I recently was defrauded out of my Rolex on e bay. Is there a register of stolen watches in case it comes in for repair ?

Sorry to hear that...
You should file a police report and contact the nearest RSC to provide the details of the watch.
They will register the serial number, and if it ever comes in for repair or service, they will notify the police.

Good luck, I hope they catch the thief!

shame about this and yes, theres a database but theres still more to be done above the rolex database list to help others and yourself;

- post the auction number so others can be warned of the buyer
- where was it sent? (assuming buyer fraud)
- how was it paid for?
- shipping company used?
- post the ser# on the watch out section with a description of the watch
- inform local independent service locations in the area where it was sent
- inform local police

thats just a few things.

good luck!

As mentioned, the first step is to notify the police so that you have a valid report. It also might be a good idea to notify the police in the area where you shipped the watch. That is a more likely area where it will be sold or pawned.

You will need that validated police report in order for you to list it in Rolex database. You can't just call them up.

I'm sorry to hear.
It seems there are a lot more scammers around nowadays for some reason.

sorry to hear about that. Hope all turns out for the best in the end. I hope you had insurance on the watch that might cover it.

Sorry to hear that. Just curious how did this happen? It might help other people not to get ripped off. Did the buyer have 0 feedback? Did you ship with a tracking number? The buyer said he didn't receive it?

Can you explain how this happened since you are typically covered by E-Bay and PayPal if you are following the rules through the site. We are all here to help you as much as we can but we need more information.

Despite the lack of details about the eBay transaction that predicated the OPs question, the answers are spot-on and serve many newbies very well.

I'd love to hear more, but banning a new member for asking a question?

Why need to be banned? Now days one of the first things you do when you have a problem with anything is going to the forums of the particular that in my opinion are one of the best places to read and ask for help

Spot on.

Chaps, the guy is brand new to the forum and could well be writing in as a once off. There is absolutely no need to call for a ban and to do so shows the forum in a bad light.

If nothing else, it helps to keep the rest of us on our toes aka dodgy practices and a reminder never to let your guard down.

Regards

Mick
