Gold . . . At what age?
If ever is/was gold for you?
I've always had steel as I felt gold was for my dad if you get my drift. He had a two tone blue sub in his early fifties and in his sixties got the all gold blue sub. I'm in my forties but am thinking now maybe. I see guys at all ages but wonder when most go gold :-) |

After over twenty years of collecting and now in my mid forties, I finally bought a YG Day Date. While I do enjoy it for the different look and different feel, steel will always be the mainstay of my collection.

Gold . . . At what age?
Whenever you want one, get one. There are no hard fast rules to owing a Gold Rolex or any watch for that matter. If you like it, it brings you pleasure and also tell you the time...go for it!

This is a good question. I've always wanted a YG DD. Probably because I remember my dad having one when I was younger. Every time I think about getting it, I realize that I just want one to have one, and would probably never wear it. Steel or WG pieces are just still so much more wearable to me.
Right now I'm thinking after I'm 50... |

Any age is fine, as long as you're comfortable wearing it

The choice for gold is totally subjective. In my opinon, if you can afford it and like the look of gold (ie. yellow, rose), then go for it. One should not be swayed from wearing gold because many of the younger people think gold (especially yellow) is for "older people".

Any age, if I could have afforded it when I was 20, I would have one, if I could afford it now at 40+, I would have one... but it will remain a dreamy piece which one day will make the stable before I pass.

Wear what you like (if you can afford it) at any age. Gold, SS, Platinum. It's just a matter of what you prefer. Particularly I like SS or White Gold because I don't like yellow tones but that just me.

I'm in my thirties and have four gold watches. Best is to buy one when you feel comfortable wearing one and more importantly can comfortably afford one as well.
Take the YG Sub with blue sunburst dial and ceramic bezel, now that is a vibrant, dynamic and modern watch that is certainly not for older people only. They say youth is wasted on the young, well sometimes wealth is wasted on the old. |

Gold has to do with the mans swagger. If you cant confidently say you know you want gold then it may never be for you.

I don't think it's an age thing at all. Simply a matter of preference.

Hi,
I bought my first Rolex, a yellow Rolesor Datejust, at 26. I caught the Rolex bug bad however, and less than a year later I'd already added two full yellow gold pieces - a Cellini and an Oysterquartz Day-Date - to my collection. And more days than not throughout the subsequent six years that I owned the Day-Date, it was on my wrist 24/7. |

Love the look of yellow or rose gold just don't think it looks right on me. Maybe that will change when I get older (currently 33) but for now I'll stick to SS, Ti, ceramic, etc for industrial materials and platinum and white gold for precious metals. I feel they fit better with my dress and style so they will get more wrist time.
