Omega Case Numbers

I find it incredibly difficult to believe that in today's information technology driven world it isn't easier to identify an Omega Case Number. Do I have this right that the only way to identify the case number is to actually remove the case back itself?

I do not live close to an AD, I do not have the tools/knowledge to remove/replace the case back myself reliably, and I have not yet emailed Omega. I have searched this and other forums thoroughly without much luck.

Goals are to identify the case back number for Omega PO 8500 42mm with Orange Bezel, so I can order the OEM Black Rubber Strap with Orange Stitching and proper clasp.

Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need the case back number. All you need to do is call Jim at Continental Jewelers in Washington DC. He has the straps in stock and discounts for forum members.

You can use the bracket code as reference number. Check out this link to Ofrei.com and look at the black straps with orange stiching at the bottom of the page. It will show you which strap will replace the bracelet. I did this to identify the correct strap for my SMPc.

Thanks jm, he has very mixed reviews on here and other forums, but I will definitely consider it and I do appreciate your response.

Cesium (love that name!) I also really appreciate your information. In fact ofrei does list the bracelet, which mine is 1589/958. Do you like the way it fit? Have you compared it to OEM?

It wouldn't hurt to give him a quick call and save a few $$$.

BTW, all of my new Omegas and accessories have come from Continental since 2003 with never a hiccup.

Here are a few "mixed reviews" I found on another forum. You might also check out Yelp for DC.

This is not "Orange Black Rubber" but meant to say Black Rubber with Orange Stitching.

Thanks for this clarifying post. It certainly seems like his favorability:unfavorability ratio is actually 99:1. It's always good to save a few bucks.

Cheers

The Straps sold by Ofrei are OEM. Same thing as if ordering from Omega. I have the rubber strap for an SMPc and the quality is amazing. I can't say if there is something different about the rubber used by Omega than other brands, say Timex, but it feels more substantial. As you're looking into straps you may find some with the same design and less expensive and described as just as good. They won't be. Stick with OEM whenever possible.

A couple things to keep in mind when ordering an Omega strap:
1. The buckles are sold separately so you'll have to find the corresponding buckle/deployment clasp (these can be pricey but they're worth it as discussed in another recent Omega thread).
2. Omega Boutiques sometimes have cheaper prices than Ofrei.com and buying from a boutique may get you Omega freebies.
3. Used straps pop up once and awhile so check out the sub forums on TRF for non-Rolex accessories.
4. Some Omega straps are "rubber" but then say not to get them wet. I'm not exactly sure why, something about the lining maybe. Other straps are 100% rubber, like mine, and love the water. Depending on your intended use of the watch strap, just double check that it can get wet if that matters to you.

Good luck!

Thanks for sharing this insight!!!!!

Ordered from boutique and was befuddled why it was $40 cheaper than ofrei.com? Oh well, the guy at the boutique couldn't have been more helpful and shipped it to me free of charge and assembled. Outstanding customer service if you ask me. Now I have to wait for the strap and the Bergeon 6111 to arrive.

Very cool! The saved money pays for the Bergeon. Just got the 6111 myself and it is awesome.

Post pics when you put on the new strap. It'll look great!
