Escaping the cold with my Sub

Man, it sure is nice to get away at the end of winter
Just enjoying the beach down in the Bahamas, me, my wife and son ....and my Sub
Life is good
Interesting side note...I was in the John Bull store in Freeport yesterday and what did I see? A brand new Polar 16570 in the display case...surprising!

Thanks gents! The weather here is near perfection, nice and warm, but not crazy hot. I'm considering an intro to diving course, no certification, but some basics and as I understood it, a dive to about 15 feet. Something I've always wanted to try, and am hoping I will like...so that I can pursue further training. Any pointers or tips from the experienced divers here....is it worth trying a basic intro to diving, or better to wait and go for a real certification course when I get home? I can't see the harm in trying the intro, unless someone feels it's risky given the very minimal instruction I would receive before the intro dive. Thoughts appreciated as always!

Nice watch, nice beach..
A resort dive is always a good way to get started with diving.
Be sure to wear the Sub though, makes it all worth while when a a Sub gets wet.

Try the dive and you will love it as much as your Sub will.
I have to wait till May to get my new Sub wet.
Enjoy and good health.

Yes, a resort course is a great way to "get your feet wet" with diving. And your sub will love it. It needs to be down there with the fishes. (Just make sure the crown is screwed down finger tight).

Resort dives in Jamaica took us down 30 plus feet. I actually got certified there but everyone was going fairly deep for no certification. Deepest I've gone is about 95 feet with a Divemaster right next to me.

Hey all, well I'm happy to report that both me and my sub survived! It was a very enjoyable experience, and really well run by the instructor and dive crew. There were of course many beautiful, colourful fish and creatures, although I have to admit not knowing at all what they all were, and I'm sure I missed a lot as my focus was more on thinking about what I was doing and staying aware of the instructor's direction than observing the sights. We were down a little over half an hour, and at 30 to 40 feet at the bottom, so certainly as deep as I would want to go on a first experience. The water was amazingly deep turquoise and clear, just beautiful. I'm going to pursue certification so I'm ready for the next trip South!

Indeed, not even breaking a sweat for the sub, but I feel pretty good now that it's broken in!

I think the depth we were at was about as deep as I'd want to go without more training and experience. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit nervous at first, but after the first 10 minutes or so it felt more relaxed. 95 feet sounds pretty deep to me! The tricky part, I found, was equalizing pressure in my ears, it was a bit stubborn at times. All in all a great experience that I'd like to enjoy again
