BLRO Conundrum.........need some advice
Hey everyone. I went into my AD today to see if the price increase had happened (not yet) and he "made me" try this on. Very cruel on his part. I just bought the BLNR about a month ago. I am very happy with the BLNR but the BLRO is pretty special as well. I've been thinking about a PM watch for some time and was not expecting my AD to get one
My question is should I get the BLRO under these conditions: 1)trade back the BLNR (with very minimal loss) 2) give up my watch budget for 3-4 years (meaning giving up a potential purchase of a 5513, vintage speedy, plus one more) I guess the question boils down to is the BLRO that special to make this sacrifice. Your comments and suggestions would be appreciated. |

I have pondered letting go of a few for one as well. How are the disounts like up north?
Edit: forgot to answer. Yes, do it if the price is right |

In my opinion no. To give up a watch budget for 3-4 years sounds terrible. Plus vintage Speedies are so awesome!
Honestly, I don't think this is a quiver watch. I think it is nice, but not for all occasions and it may even become tired after awhile.. God luck with your decision. |

I'd wait for Basel. Less than a month.

It would have to ba an absolute Grail for me to do so. Sounds like you're not 100% certain. I'd sit on it a while and see how you feel about it in a few days.
Good luck deciding |

I'm definitely not 100% sure about it so I think I might sit tight until Basel. Hopefully, no one will buy it until then

I was hoping that some current owners of the BLRO would share their experiences and offer some words of wisdom

Give it 3 months. If you still really want it above any other watch then go get it.

I was in exact same spot in December when I tried on the BLRO and was offered a full trade credit on my BLNR. I was awestruck by the watch and next to the BLRO I thought the BLNR looked "less than" in overall construct, although I was possibly just fixated on the huge date magnification on the BLRO as compared to the smaller mag on my BLNR and I thought this was a possible athough expensive solution to that problem. In the end, I passed because the color scheme on the BLRO is less versatile for my wardrobe than the BLNR and I had also just bought two PM Rolexes a few months prior. I thought of all combinations for trade or outright purchase and just couldn't get there. So for me, I decided to wait on hopefully a weak showing in the preowned market.

I wouldn't buy a PM watch from an AD unless it was a Patek. You can go to a trusted seller on here and save 20-25%.
Aside to that I wouldn't do it in any case, life's too shot for one watch, let your collection grow and pick up a pre-owned BLRO when the prices stabilize |

My BLNR made it four months before it was upgraded to the BLRO. To say I'm happy with the switch would be an understatement.

Well if the BLRO is worth a BLNR, 5513, and Speedy to you, sure...why not. Only you can make that call.
The only advice I can give you is I would rather have 1 watch that I really love as opposed to 3 or 4 that I like. |

I know how you feel, more sleepless nights to come
Well, I also got the BLNR first and than BLRO comes along. I was very excited about the red and blue in Cerachrom until I saw it in person at Rolex Boutique. To be honest, IMHO, the 2 colors don't look right, the blue is almost purple and the red is pinkish (cranberry like). After a couple of sleepless nights I decided that I can't live without the BLNR (it is such a handsome combo, and the blue Cerachrom is right on the money!) So I kept the BLNR and got the BLRO. Since owning the BLRO for 3 months, still have not warm up to the 2 colors, it is better without the intense store light effect. Now I rotate the Sub Smurf and GMT BLNR regularly and the BLRO in the safe. Unless you absolutely in love with the BLRO, the BLNR is perfect! |

Thanks for all the replies fellas
I think I know what I'm going to do but I will wait a bit and give it some more thought. I will wait till basel is over and then make a decision. I'm actually wearing my BLNR right now and enjoying it's beautiful colour combo.

You want a PM Rolex You are at a point that the AD is willing to take your BLNR back at minimal loss AD is willing to make a nice deal The watch IS worth it even if it is the only one you will ever own The other watches you mention are nice but they ain't an all white gold Rolex GMT The watch is a perfect everyday watch or special occasion watch Hope you are not making a mistake! |

Handled BLRO in person vs. YG GMT and the YG did more for me. I think if you are not sure, then it is not worth writing the ticket. I only scratch if it is really itchy!

To the OP ... I don't own this watch so can't offer much help. But handled one at the AD and it is on my list ... may be sometime in the future. Enjoy the hunt |
