3255 Movement Redeems Baselworld 2015 For Rolex

For those of us who were feeling underwhelmed, consider the 3255 movement which will, or something similar based on it, certainly trickle down to the sports-watches given it's shock resistance(Parachrom hairspring).

Additionally, accuracy for the 3255 is -2 +2, when was the last time there was a guaranteed accuracy jump that significant?

And there's a 70 hour power reserve.

Yeah, it's under the hood, here's hoping in '16 there's a Sub or GMT to wrap around it.

So for those of you who have been following Rolex long-term, how long until we see the 3255 or something similar in the Subs, GMT's, and Explorer II's?

With my humble experience it has to go through all the gold models first. This takes several years. Rolex is never about major or quick shifts this it's timeless status.
Read Rolex history friend. My 2 cents anyways

Does anyone know the size of the new 3255 movement relative to the current 3135? I'm especially interested in thickness, as well as the distance of the date wheel from the center.

There is a new 3235 movement as well... In the new 39mm DateJust Pearlmaster.

Presumably in any event Rolex will significantly reduce or even exhaust their existing stock pile of current movements before broadening the new one out to other models. Nice to think though that it might be picked up in a 'sports' at some point in the future, assuming this is technically feasible.

I see it as more of a 'reloading' year as opposed to 'redemption', but agree with that this a pretty special upgrade to the existing movement. As for how long, is anybody's guess but most likely will take a few years.
