Which 41mm DAYDATE II...?
Alright guys~ Usually I am very stuck in my own ways and I always just get what I want no matter what anyone says... but for a change wanted to see what some others think. Sooo... Let's have a lil fun here as I would really appreciate some of your inputs~
I'm about to get myself a Day Date II~ Now before alot of you may tell me to wait for the DD40, I would like to add, Although a AWESOME New model with the likewise AWESOME New movement... I have made up my mind on the DDII as I like the larger size and the (as alot would like to say)"out of proportion bezel" ~ The reason being is that I already have the regular sized Yellow Gold Day date so want more of a contrast in size from that~ Also I have the Rose Gold Sky Dweller on oyster bracelet with Choco dial in which I am very happy with and will keep but will not be worn everyday~ Thus I am in the market for a larger size president that I can wear more often. In my opinion, the feel of FIT on the DDII feels more balanced in terms of weight distribution from watch head to band etc... As the Sky Dweller is more "top heavy" due to the larger, thicker case. WHEW~! So now with that out of the way~ Here are my choices: A Yellow Gold with Blacked out Concentric Dial, a Rose Gold with Choco Dial, or a Yellow with the silver Dial~ Would love to hear all your thoughts~ Thanks!

As you have the YG and a choco dial I would go for the awesome WG blue wave that Sam rocks. Otherwise the chocolate dial.

As for the White gold and Platinum models... I have already been that route before and since I have so many Stainless Steel models would like to go for YG or RG's~

I agree with all of you. I'm all about the DDII as I have one WG. I love the chunkiness. I was looking at a Chronomat 44 when I fell in love with the DDII so you can see I actually "downsized" from my expectations. There may be a Chronomat in my future as I have fallen in and out of love with it over the years. But the DDII is a man's watch, instant classic, will now be relatively rare and even mine, in WG with white face and Romans catches the eye. I love the stealthiness that only me and WISs know what's rockin' on my wrist.
That said I am in lust with the DD40 Platinum with the CRAZY diamond pattern dial! You just can't go wrong with DDII or DD40 IMHO. BTW regarding the yellow gold DDII, I have seen it on the wrist only once. I was wearing my WG and it was under my sleeve as I had a suit on. The guy running the meeting had his suit coat off and was rocking a YG DDII. It was like a bomb went off in my head. WHAT PRESENCE! In this case I was surprised because the guy was in a corporate position that normally the holder of flys under the radar. That thing blew up the radar station. Enjoy it!! |

If you have a YG DD and a RG SkyD, why not go for a WG DDII... like the blue wave.
Even with the DD40, I'd still take a DDII! |

Thanks mate, in that case I would go for the choco as you have that but in a different model, two YG DDs would be too similar for me.

I would also look at the ivory concentric dial. It's a stunning yg DDII.

Silver or ivory dial all day. It's a no brainer when you consider your existing collection. Kudos to you on going DD II. It will be on my very short list although it may be more than a short while.

Me too.
The more I think about this, the more I'm appreciating the 2. Now I want to add that in YG as well.

Here's my concentric blackout dial:
And here's a pic DD2 vs SubC TT. At 41mm my DD2 doesn't look like it's bigger than the 40mm sub. And the bezel thing, IMO it's just the right size - exaggerated maybe a little bit, that bezel screams.. ROLEX!! |

If the blackout dial is a choice for you, why not also think about the "Bronze waves" dial. IMHO very unique dial choice that is hard to stop looking at! Maybe something to look into also.

For me the best is the WG DDII with Blue Wave Dial. I think it's stunning.
I hadn't seen much of it until Sam bought it here but I think it's stunning. His pictures are amazing because actually it seems like a rare bird and it's difficult to find good pictures of it. That's the one for me. I also love the Everose Gold with Chocolate dial that Neil has. They're both beauties.
