Wanting to join the Panerai camp
I am looking to replace my Breitling Steelfish and am seriously thinking about Panerai. The reason I sold the Steelfish was because it was just too heavy (listed at 122 grams-not sure with bracelet or not) and it was constantly sliding into my wrist bone. I could never get comfortable with it. I currently have a Submariner that I love dearly although i would not want anything smaller on my 7.5" wrist.
I am looking at an "entry level" Panerai like the 111, 112 etc. since I really like the clear caseback. I don't know how the watches feel nor what sort of wrist presence to expect. I also don't know if a leather band will change the way it feels on the wrist versus a metal bracelet like on the Breitling. Or should I be looking at a titanium model? As always y'all's expertise is welcomed.

If you like the more subdued look of titanium, consider a 176 or 177, as they are lighter than their steel equivalents. As said above, though, you could also consider the 372, as pre-owned prices are very attractive.
Enjoy the hunt! ![]() |

I just joined the club a few weeks ago and am very happy I did. I have worn a sub for the past 8 years and just bought a 351, which is titanium. With a 6.5 wrist it wears awesome. More comfortable the I would hVe ever thought and the reduced weight with ti is well worth it. All I can say is you will not regret your first Pam.

Your wrist is a good size for a 372. I have one and its to big for me. Wear it sometime with a long sleeve shirt. Mostly just look at it. Its such a sweet watch even its too big i cant sell it.

I am now looking at the 47mm as an alternative. To those who mentioned the 372 are there any issues with the Plexiglass crystal?

372 for a classic 1950s model. It oozes Panerai DNA and is a great modern representation of a classic. 000, 005 if you are looking for something pre-Vendome styled. 111, 112 if you like the look of the pre-V models but want a display caseback and sandwich dial.
In my opinion, the 372, 000, and 005 are the truest to their respective forefathers. |
