Shutter lag test
I was just in a debate with someone on another forum about digital versus film SLRs, where he claimed that film's much better because DSLRs have shutter lag. I conducted a simple little test to counter the point and I though I may as well post it here too.
I took a series of shots with my Canon 400D to capture each drop of water from a dripping tap - here's the setup: ![]() Note the second hand on the SD: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Shutter lag? What shutter lag? ![]()

Great pics, James.....but you do realise, of course, that you now have a tap that's going to be going "drip drip drip" all night long!!

JJ, there's this great little addition they've made to taps called a handle. You twist it in and the drip stops. Don't ask me how this crazy thing works - I just know it does.

Wow James.
That looks like 4-5 frames a SECOND. Outstanding performance for a camera. ![]() ![]()

Actually it's about a frame a second, Paul - I pressed the shutter every time a drop hit the water. Still, the 400D's no slouch - it's capable of 3 frames per second, although I've rarely had occasion to use it.
