Did Rolex 18038 about 70 - late 80 original come with leather strap or not ?

As the head of topic , it came with leather strap or only with president bracelet?

Thx :)

A wonderful way to have a daily wear head on a casual brown strap, and then a quick change to a polished black for dress.

I wonder whatever possessed Rolex to drop this plan to provide two straps?

You see a lot of vintage DDs for sale on leather straps. I'll bet a lot of them had "stretch" in the gold President bracelet, and the cost of repair or replacement was prohibitive to many, if not most. I'd further guess that many of these "worn-out" bracelets were melted down for their value in gold, to be replaced by leather (NOT factory). I like the DD on leather, and would enjoy the cost savings of an older one on leather more than paying for an unwearable PM DD bracelet (although an MY refurbishment is worth considering).
