Trade or not?

I've got the potential to trade a late model 16610 Sub date and a 16610LV 50th anniversary Sub, both in immaculate condition, for a 1680 Sub Red in excellent condition that's guaranteed 100% authentic with original box and papers (unfortunately, no pictures to share). I'm waaaayyy tempted... what do you think??

Really depends.. has the case been polished? how polished? Serial vs. the dial match (period correct?) Original insert and pearl? How is the patina? Does it match completely? Any erosion on the hands?

You will need to check a lot of boxes before contemplating this trade. I would read through this basic primer first:

I wouldn't, but then again I have no desire to acquire the red sub. If that is what floats your boat then go for it

If its a very good condition Red, i would go for it, afterall its easier to source for lv and 16610 if one day you missed them both.

As much as I love a good 1680, I would not do that trade. Add a 1680 white for half the price.

I don't think I could do that trade. Box / papers aren't important to me, and I think moneywise......you are losing a thousand or two. I wouldn't do it.

I dont think I would. Depends as well what will be your daily watch, cant see a red sub being that.

While I love the Red Sub don't think I would trade two relatively new watches for one that is over 40 years old... But that's me.

Meh, I don't think I'd trade them but that's just me and nobody's opinion matters like your own. Go with your gut!

That's a lot for some red ink, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

I would. Red sub in excellent original condition with paperwork is a rare bird. Way way more rare than your 2 subs. If its a true full kit red sub then your looking at 17+. I cant see your subs worth anything close. My 2 cents.

I'd do the deal too. His two watches will slightly decline in value over the next few years while the red Sub will gain.

Highly doubtful. Have you watched the asking price for a 16610LV on the forums for the last 4 years??!! I should have bought 10 of them. I could have made $15,000 - $20,000

The red sub is a stunning piece and I'm not a big fan of most modern Rolex watches, so I'd do the trade.
