Authenticity Check
Hey guys, how do I go about ensuring that a used Rolex is authentic (not a fake) and also, is there some sort of guide as to how much a used Rolex is worth? Something like a Kelly Blue Book for watches! lol
Thanks for all your help! |

The best way is just to study and scrutinise the good watches shown on these forums.
Once you are very familiar with them the fakes will stand out by just being different and of inferior build quality. There is no blue book as such. Prices do vary depending on different criteria such as model discontinuation or recent MRSP price increase affecting the secondary market prices. The FS section is a good yardstick of secondary market prices though one or two have been priced in "la la land". Stick around and you will be as expert as the rest of us.

PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you a PDF guide. Other than that pop into a Rolex AD and ask them to authenticate it for you.
By the way, that goes for anyone else who want a copy

Welcome to TRF!
I suggest you often lurk in the "WatchOut" section to study fakes and also buy the book "The Rolex Report" by John E. Brozek. Although the book is not quite up to date concerning the most recent fakes, it would still give you a good overview of what to be aware of.

Good luck with your search. I would advise staying away fro Leo Hamel in San dDiego. Had a very bad experience with them.
What model are you looking for? Welcome! |

You can browse various watch forums to see what different models are selling for. I would also keep a eye out in the sales corner here on TRF, great sellers and you know nobody is going to try to sell a fake here. Another site to look at is WWW.preownedrolex.com Cayce is a member here and he is a solid seller.
