rolex oysterquartz help!

I have had an oysterquartz in my collection for some time now and a few months ago it stopped working. Thinking the battery needed to be replaced the watch repair man at my local AD said there was something wrong with the watch. Since it's an old model he sent it to Switzerland. After analysing the problem they concluded that a vast majority of the calibre had to be replaced at a cost of (brace yourselves) 1700 euros. That's how much I paid for the watch in the first place!
I didn't agree to the repair and they sent it back. So, I'm on the lookout for a replacement calibre and I guess my plea for help is: can anyone on this forum help me find a replacement calibre?. It's for the 17000 cal 5035. Or can anyone refer me to someone who van repair it for considerably less?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Regards,
Benoit

Unfortunately that's the cost (and more) for a quartz Rolex.
