Which Panerai to pop the cherry on
I want my next watch to be a Panerai and I have been looking around. It seems like there are so many different Panerai out there.
Two features that I've been really attracted to are the california dial or a white dial Panerai. I have a change to buy the PAM051, i like the white dial on it but the fact that its ETA movement seems to deter me away. I'm also attracted to PAM 242 or 249 but the 47mm seems super big on my wrist. I'm just curious, what was everyone's first Panerai? what did they like the most about it? |

The California dials are great and even at 47mm the Radiomir lineup wears small. I'd still recommend a base model such as the 111, 112, 000, or 005 to start. I think as your taste in Panerai evolves you'll end up viewing white dials and California dials more as part of a collection than solitary pieces. Then again, if your heart is really set on either style, go with it.

All good options above.
That being said, if a Cali dial or a white dial (523? 114? 113?) really makes you happy, that's what I'd do. I was aware of the classics when picking my Panerai, but, I went with what made me smile most, and four years later it still does and I haven't felt the "need" for another PAM (though I wouldn't say no to a 292). ![]() |

If 47 is too big for your wrist it won't work, but the 372 is the epitomy of Panerai: crown guard, 3-6-9-12 sandwich dial, plexi, gorgeous case.

My first and still my favorite is the 312. I like the 44mm size, in-house movement, dial simplicity, date function, see thru case back, crown guard, and was a good price point for me without going Rolex. :) Good luck in your search.
