Cleaning After a Warranty Service?

Hey all,

I'm a proud owner of a Rolex GMT Master II Batman. One day I noticed, in the correct lighting, there was a piece of lint inside the case. I took the watch to my local Rolex Boutique to get it checked out. Since the watch was still under warranty they would have to ship it to Dallas to fix it rather than have their in house service specialist to do it. Fine with me.
I got the call about 3 weeks later letting me know my watch was ready to be picked up. I got there and noticed they had removed the piece of lint and inside the case was flawless. However, they didn't clean/ polish the outside of the watch, as the desk diving scratches were still on the clasp. Doesn't Rolex do a full clean of the watch when it gets a warranty service?? I had a Breitling that had to be sent back for warranty service and the watch came back as if brand new, polished and flawless.

Is this standard procedure by Rolex to only fix the warranty problem and not do a full polishing, or did I get short changed??

Thanks in advance!

Nick

No polish work will be conducted when performing warranty work.

I wouldn't have expected it to have been done, it went in for the removal of the lint and not to be polished. I can understand your expectations though as your Breitling warranty service was done differently.

Unless you got an invoice that said that you received a "full service", you didn't, you had a warranty issue attended to. This seldom includes a case and bracelet refinish because Rolex knows that those things shorten the life of your watch by unnecessarily removing metal. Do this a half dozen times and your case is too thin to meet tolerance criteria
