Buying In Vancouver (NO TAXES?)

hi, i searched but nothing much since price increase.

is it still cheaper for us US guys to go to vancouver and buy a watch?

is it like buying in another state where i wont have to pay taxes if they ship back an empty box?

Thanks.

Never shopped for a watch in Canada. With things that I have bought, we had to pay both federal and provincial VAT. You could apply at the border to have the taxes refunded but it didn't apply to all expenditures and there were limits if memory serves. Now, you could travel to Oregon and avoid any sales tax---cuz we pay hefty income and property taxes. There are just two Rolex/Tudor AD's in the state that I'm aware of--Packouz in downtown Portland and Ben Bridge at a number of locations. The former is a long standing family business and Ben Bridge is well, Ben Bridge.

Only 5% tax in Alberta...Calgary for example.
A bit cheaper to start with because of exchange.

I looked into it last time I was in Vancouver, BC. Too much.

Can't get it back anymore. Used to be able to get the Gst back, but no more. So you would need a heft discount to make it work. And c$ has rallied a bit in the last three weeks.

As for Alberta, the days are numbered on no pst. Ndp majority govt does not bode well for its low tax status.
