Removing diver's extension from 9315 bracelet.

I'm looking to size down another notch on my 9315. Currently its as small as I can get it with the diver's extension still in place. In order to go another size down I need to remove the extension.

Is this something that is doable or would it be better to have it done by a technician? Any write ups or pictorials that show how this is done would be nice—haven't found anything yet.

You have to unfold the link right before the extension then refold it once you slip out the link. It is not too difficult, but you must go easy or you can cause a wrinkle in the top side of the link. Once you remove the extension you can put the springbar in the last link (yes there will be a gap on both sides but it won't be a problem once in your wrist).

Good luck and I have done it myself a ton if times. It's a bit nerve racking but after doing it once it's no big deal.

Thank you, this helps. I'm curious. What are you using for tools so that you don't destroy that soft stainless steel?

No problem. I simply use a small screw driver to open the link enough to remove the other. Then I just put a cloth over the back of the link and push the bent part flat again.

Thank you sir. I was able to get the link open and remove the extension. However, when I tried to fit the extension spring bar into the link it felt much too large and I wasn't able to fold the link over without assumed deformation. I ended up aborting mission, not wanting to compromise the integrity and shape of the link itself.

Glad it helped, but if you close the link prior to inserting the springbar it will be easier and you will definitely not hurt the integrity of the link. If the supplied springbar for the clasp is too thick just buy a new 16mm springbar thats a tad slimmer and your back in business.

Ok, makes sense. Thanks for your help.
