Need help ,My Rolex got defect

My rolex got defect on the character printed on dial. I purchased brand new Migauss from AD outside my country. Recenty, I use microscope to inspect my watch. I found that the character "G" was defect on printing. The character color was stain and mis-shape, I think it's problem on assembling process.

I need your advise, if I sent it to Rolex representative in my country.
1.Can it be claim? (It's still on warranty)
2.If yes, Are they gonna replace the new watch or just new dial?
3.How long does it take for thoes claim?
Thanks and wellcome for your advise

Tom, first of welcome to TRF, might be an idea if you introduced yourself first.

regarding your issue, if the watch was purchased brand new from a Rolex authorised retailer, then it comes with a two year international warranty. Either take it into your nearest Rolex retailer who will deal with it for you, or send directly yourself to the Rolex Service Centre listed in the booklet that came with your watch. Or go to Rolex.com to look up your nearest retailer or RSC. They will return the watch to its correct condition. Should imagine they would replace the dial if it's faulty.

A microscope...? You mean the thing used to look at blood cells...?

I would imagine the international guarantee applies if there is a fault & it was purchased from an AD.

Good luck

I agree with Jon aas above. I would definitely send it to the nearest Rolex Service Center (RSC) and have them replace the dial under warranty.

Welcome to TRF, Tom!

If it says "Golex", I think you have a problem.

Nah, seriously now! Quality issues do occur, even with Rolex watches. If you're not happy, as stated bring the watch back to your AD and have the dial exchanged under warranty.

Best of luck with this and please keep us updated!

Thank you very much for all your suggestion. I will bring it to my nearest representative soon, and will update the progress. BTW, I feel very disappointment about this since it's brand new watch. That's make me wonder about how this watch pass Rolex QC approved. This is not suppose to happen to the outstanding brand like this. Somebody told me to live with it since they are not confident in reassembly process that will keep my watch in the original state.

One more thing, if they replace the new dial, does the reassembly process will ensure the qualilty comparing to the first assembly? That's what I am afraid after they put the things back..

Let me introduce myself. I am not the collector. I usaully purchase the watch that I personally like; such as, Rolex Milgauss, Patek Nautilus, and so on. This is my fourth Rolex I owned, 1) Date just ,2)Explorer I, 3)Green submarine. But I love Milgauss Most!!!

I'm grad to be the new member in this board, Cheer!!!

Rolex doesen't get it right all the time, just most of the time, as a sheep shearer and lover on this site once said, before you lay any cash on the table, take or borrow a 10x loupe and examine the watch first before handing over any money.

I did this on my Sub and made 100 percent sure it was up to my satistaction.

Welcome to the Forum

I would suspect that if you have to use a microscope (or even a high power loupe) to see the discrepancy; another dial may very well show a like issue in another area..

Still, it would be a manufacturing defect and should be covered by the warranty..

Hindsight is 20/20 and I learned this lesson with my new Sub. After wearing it for 3 days I noticed that a small white speck appeared on the dial and then a small piece of lint under the crystal. I was very disappointed and people kept telling me to just deal with it Unacceptable to me after spending 6k on the watch I've drooled over for 10 years. I sent it back to RSC Dallas and it came back perfect after 2 weeks I think perhaps nothing is flawless and we will never be perfect, but we can aim for it.

If it's not detectable with the naked eye or even a jeweler's loupe I wouldn't worry about it too much. I think using a microscope may cause you to see all kinds of small defects around the edges of the print.

New update for my post case.

I have sent my Milgauss to RSC today. You know, guy! I have to leave it ,and wait for 3 Month to get it back. I's gonna miss it big time since I just worn it only few. They said that they had to order the new dial, and not guaranttee the availitibilty period. That is just estimated time. Around Aug/2008

1. Anybody in this board has that kind of experience about this? Why it takes so long to order the Dial that still in the production line.

2. What can I do to hurry this process or just stay with it?

Thanks your your information

just stay with it, its very common for any thing sent to RSC to take an age, but remeber they often quote a time, to cover themselves. You myay find it being returned much sooner

Sorry to hear that.I had similar defect on my sub dial. It seems that it's not so uncommon after all. My local AD replaced my faulty dial and it went quick and smooth. It took two weeks.

Notice fault on D also.
