Incoming! A new one ... and a departure for me.

I have never been a two-tone kind of guy. I have owned nearly every Rolex sports model over the years but always in stainless steel. I have even had Daytona's previously ... even they were a black and then white-dialed SS version. I saw a picture of a slate-dialed TT Daytona that has been haunting me ever since. Late last week I took the plunge on a M-serial 116523 and had to wait over the three-day weekend for delivery (painful!). So much for the fore-play, on to the unboxing photos!

I always thought the white face 116523 was the best looking TT Daytona.

Now I think we have a new winner.

We have a young lady trying to decide on a Rolex for hubby in another thread. I suggested your Daytona. Flipped my SS Daytona toward a 18 kt Bluesy Sub last week, knowing all along I can easily get a nice TT with a much more interesting dial (like yours) any day of the week.

After owning an SS daytona I feel I'm on very solid ground saying that the hype surrounding them is a joke. Let me get this straight, I'm supposed to wait ages or pay a premium in order to get the watch(s) with the least interesting dial selections? Why not buy a great TT model with the same stellar movement (that matters right?) and a great dial for a few bucks more at an AD or on a par with the SS models on the GM? In this case the slate dial complements the SS part of the TT bracelet and case perfectly.

Congrats and bravo on your excellent taste.

Amongst all the TT Daytonas, I think this one's the best. We certainly have a winner!!

Do you know what Wally? I'm not into two tone's at all & not sure if you are a superlative photographer, but that is a very, very tasty Daytona.

Wear it in the best of health
