A frivolous question
Ok, I know that somehow this is a topic beaten to death... however, a couple of days ago I was at an AD and I noted that the BLRO that they had in the window had all the stickers on the side of the lugs partially peeled off.
I would say not like somebody removed and reapplied them, but like one had worn the watch for a few days and then returned it. I did not ask, so I do not know whether the watch was really "pre-owned" or just showing some signs of the many people who tried it in the store. The question is: would you pay full retail price for a piece in that conditions? ps: I apologize, no pictures |

I wouldn't either, especially a PM piece of that price. It would have to be straight out of the coffin for me. Also, I wouldn't pay full retail for a PM piece anyway. There are good discounts to be had.

That would be a pass unless there is a significant discount reflecting it's obvious used status.

Depends on how much I can bargain off the price.

I won't take any luxury timepieces on display (even in a perfect condition with all the stickers on) from AD except a reasonable discount offered. The PM (or TT) models are usually hard to sell compared to some hot SS models. But many people like to wear some expensive PM models in the AD places just for fun or pleasure.

Every piece of stickers should be sealed seamless, even if a corner peels 1/2mm that is the first sign of wrist time.
For a Rolex in an AD, totally unacceptable to be sold as new. Not brand new baby

I completely agree with you, however, I believe the majority is speaking from their personal view on a potential next purchase. I doubt anyone (or WIS) wants to purchase a previously handled watch if they don't necessarily have to, especially when given the option.

if it were pre-owned, the AD couldn't offer a new warranty card, right?
my guess is that the stickers were peeling due to use in the store....which hints at the model having sat at the AD for some time. |

"The question is: would you pay full retail price for a piece in that conditions? "
That would imply, "No!" I guess for me it would depend how available I found the watch. In this case it is a BLRO; how available are they at ADs? PM then a discount is in order likely anyway. |

Yes if the warranty card is still open it is not pre-owned, however those stickers are on pretty tight so for it to have peeled means a fair bit of handling so I would use that to get a discount.

To answer the question...no.
But, I wouldn't be opposed to using this as a bargaining chip if the condition was acceptable. |

As for paying full price...No. But then again, I don't think anyone here would pay full price for a PM model in the first place. |

It sounds like a watch that has been bought and returned or has been handled a lot! If you can swing a massive discount on it then it might be worth it. Otherwise then no.
