How do people deal with this?
Last night's dinner with the wife was ruined by this tiny little hairline scratch!! Aarrrrgghhh to top it off my wife was laughing... she kept saying her Daytona had more and she didnt care...she obviously doesn't understand her husbands' love for perfection!
Anyways felt like I had to vent... Here is a pic of my daily 26470or with it's new battle scar... ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I personally would not be bothered. You can always have the dealer buff it out.

Haha, still looks great. For some reason, I'm more paranoid about scratches on my watches than even the cars. Love the gold, but need the ceramic bezel. 44RG for me only.

Yeah I hate when that happens. If anything let Clearwater sort it out for you...maybe when it goes in for 3rd year water test? Otherwise, just wait until it's due for service.

It's a watch, it will scratch.
Never fun but part of the program. Go enjoy it and don't let the wife wear it ![]() |

Ouch. I hate scratches especially where you can directly see it. Still a gorgeous niece though.

This.
Curious as well how it happened. I got a pretty bad one on my Hublot Classic Fusion a long time ago (when I owned one). I had her polished, and then sold. I just wanted a reason to get rid of it really. Honestly yours doesn't look bad. You may also start to enjoy it more without having to be too careful after the first little scratch. Nothing a service won't take care of. Just enjoy that beauty for now my friend! |

That's actually bigger than I was expecting and on gold it does hurt a little more but you'll get over it, won't be the last sadly, it's character building.

Scratches happen. That's life for a watch. Initially surely it's painful especially on a new watch but over time you just stop noticing.

Things like this will eventually happen, it's just sooner or later no matter how careful you are! If it really bothers you so much, just sent it to APSC to polish it off.

Awesome watch!! Unfortunately these things happen. The first one is always the worst. Either way, looks like a light one and only you will notice.

Not really. Unless the dealer has a watchmaker with a special AP tool / set up to use just the right abrasive to refinish the bezel in one stroke.
If you try to touch up that spot...it will look difference from the rest of the bezel. That insert needs to be swiped by special sand paper in one direction - by someone with the right set up and know how. Another thing that makes APs more sensitive / why it hurts when they get nicked! |

AP Clearwater is simply outstanding. If it bothers you enough, send it for a quick brushing of the bezel. Otherwise, wait for the next service and try to ignore it for now.

@rebel1 thats what upsets me the most!! i dont remember, i have never dinged any of my steel AP's and that bezel on the offshores is super sensitive so I would know. it's not deep at all but it's no longer flawless

I would try to "deal" with it as long as I could and have it taken care of with the next service. I've got two screws on my AP Diver that have been chewed up by door jam dings / bezel scratches that bother my any time I wear it-- probably going to send it in early for it's service and bite the $1k bullet.
