Good Time to Buy TT Datejust

I was watching Pretty Women last night and kept noticing Edward Lewis's (Richard Gere) watch. It's a Two Tone Datejust with jubilee bracelet. Watching the movie really made me want to get one. I mean come on, a fictional multi-millionaire that's taking over a company valued at one billion wears a TT DJ that I can now afford to buy!
Recent trend for used Rolex seems to be in SS sports model. I think DJ, especially two tone, are being overlooked. Maybe I can grab one now and wear it when i turn 40.

I completely agree, nothing beats a TT datejust with jubilee bracelet, yet the film is not that new (but it's always a good time to buy the watch) 😜

A true classic...the movie and the watch. I read that it is actually Richard Gere's watch and not a movie prop. I believe Tom Selleck also wears one in Blue Bloods.

I've been through many watches in the past five years. The one I regret NOT purchasing would have been my first Rolex. It was a TT Datejust from around 1970 from a jewelry consignment shop in Charleston, SC. It had an aged dial and was on a leather strap but to this day I see it as the one that got away.... Or something like that anyway...

If you like it, get it!

What is the model number for the datejust you have if you don't mind me asking? Beautiful watch by the way. @broulstone

i'm usually more of a modern watch guy, but, the older DJs with the brushed and thin lugs do more for me than the newer ones with polished and beefier lugs.

They, in my mind, represent the iconic Rolex. For me it is what comes to most of the worlds mind when Rolex is mentioned. I'm trying to have mine brought back to stock and to have the original tapestry dial re-installed. Here it is with the updated dial style.

The original dial in white is below:
