TT submariner (diamond and saffire) or TT Daytona? A gift for Susan's husband update

Guys/gals!

Howdy! I'm the Susan that posted a week ago about buying husband a watch as a gift (haven't decided on the occassions yet, but everyday can be a celebration, right?! ).

After extensive research and taking hints, I decided on one of the following 2 watches.

1. First one is the Two Tone Submarier with blue bezel and silver dial with diamond and sapphire.

2. The other one is the two tone Daytona. White or black dial. AD has both.

If you were him, which one would you pick? Daytona is $13.4k MSRP, Sub is $11.45K MSRP. Price wise, not much difference (both higher than my original budget of $10k, but hey, if it can make someone happy, why NOT?! ).

Thank you in advance!

Susan

You should be able to get a discount on either of those and bring it closer to the budget..

Of the two, I would prefer the TT Daytona.

Both are winners! I'm not sure which I prefer... do you have a pic of the Daytona you're looking at? There's several different variations of the TT Daytona.

What color dial on the Daytona? TT Serti Dials are not that common and a preference of taste. They are not always seen as a true tool watch. Not that I mind as you can tell from my GMT Master picture.

My preference would be for the Daytona. The TT BLue Sub with diamonds is a bit too much bling for my taste. IMO it's neither dressy nor sporty. Sort of a fish out of water.

But, hey, that's just my .

Go with what you think he'd like.

As a proud owner of both a S/S Daytona and a S/G Daytona, I vote for the S/G Daytona. It is a great watch. I think the Sub with the fancy dial is just too much.
For the same money, you could get your husband the watch we all "crave"...the S/S Daytona. Why not go for the gusto?

i chose the tt daytona...as i personally dont think there should be any precious stones etc on what is ultimately a tool watch.

If I was choicing, it would have to be the Daytona.
I'm not keen on diamonds in a watch and certainly not on a sports watch.

OK I'm going to throw a wrench in things and say the serti sub..

I've actually tried this one on and there is something about it! It's definitely more rare in the wild than a TT daytona; not that it necessarily means anything.

I'm not a big fan of TT watches in general, but I will say that when it comes to the subs, the TT black dial sub and the TT slate serti sub are my faves

Keep us posted Susan. Your hubby is a lucky man! Perhaps he'll return the favor girl!

TT Daytona (ALL DAY LONG)

I have had both and they are both beautiful watches. That said ... the TT Daytona is nearly never spotted in the real (non-WIS) world and is a killer watch. I am a recent convert myself. Here is the evidence:

Did you look at this version, Susan? That slate colored dial is amazing! This would be my vote, assuming he likes Daytonas.

Also, you should be able to get either one for under $10K out the door, if you negotiate with the right AD. What state are you in?

Most AD's are not going to discount TT Daytona 25% , possibly 10-20% if You have a relationship with an AD. You drinking too much of that Vino!

Susan, which one do you like best? This forum has a vocal group that likes stainless steel. In the end, even after all the questions and comments; what watch do you think the hubby will like best. That is all that matters. The fun part is the hunt and the giving.

Most people who would really appreciate a Rolex probably have some very definite ideas about which models they would want. I cannot imagine spending this kind of money on my wife without asking her what she actually wanted. I would show both to your husband and let him pick. A watch like this is a very personal thing.

Shoot! I voted for the Sub with the diamonds and sapphires ('cause I own a YM with that dial, and I love it) but after I saw Wally's, I need to change my vote - Rolesor Daytona, for sure. I mean, it just looks way, way toooooo cooooolllll........

I'll put it to you this way, the last new TT Daytona I turned down from my AD was for LESS than than the old MSRP for a SS one. I'm guessing I can still get one for $10K.

It's just too bad I don't care for Daytonas, but they ARE growing on me!

Susan, still waiting on that PM about your whereabouts...
