Icon14 flipped my 16610 for a new 14060m...

... and cant be any happier!!

hi there,
a few months ago I posted here a thread soon after I purchased a (pre-owned but nearly mint) D-series 16610. That was my first sub, such an iconic watch that I always felt in love with

Well... it took me a while to realize that what I really want(ed) is/was THE submariner, meaning the one without the cyclops! Besides I do love the drilled lugs (for all my sport watches, I use to change often from bracelet to Nato/zulu straps). Plus, non-sel bracelet is extremelly confy.

To make it short: I sold my 16610 (with no financial loss! ) and bought myself a new shining 14060m cosc
Well, for some of you, it may sound like I downgrade to the simpler flimsy sub... but as a matter of fact wow I do love it!!

(sorry for the poor quality pic)

ps. on another note, just for curiosity i am trying to find out when (= serial number) the 14060m did become certified. The lowest 14060m-cosc I have found so far has a Z77 serial. and the highest non-COSC has Z71 serial. Can you help to narrow it down?

The watch looks beautiful! Marco.

Not a bad flip at all, I always thought the No Date Sub is one of the sharpest looking Rolexes in the line up because it has no date magnifier. The dial is not obstructed at all by the cyclops. That is a classic timepiece you have.

Enjoy your new 14060M in the very best of health for many many years to come!

It looks great. I love the COSC version.

I was thinking of doing the same thing, but I can't seem to part with my Sub Date because I have had it sold long. And I am not at the accumulation stage, so won't be adding one of those puppies to my collection. Some day though.

Imho, you did the right thing!

You went from a classic Rolex to an even MORE classic one! The 14060M is cool since it's the last "untouched" Rolex watch in the range, having non SEL's, lug holes and old-style diver's link.

Well done!

Bravo!

Marco, can you tell us what series your 14060m is and give us a pic of the dial that shows the lines of writing above the 6?

Grazie mille.
