Possible trade for a DJ II

Hey Guys,

So I read a lot of 'should I trade' threads and never thought I'd do one of my own. Well I'm now thinking of doing a trade but have never done a trade before. I'd like to hear some opinions from you guys who have experience in doing so.

So I've seen a DJ II blue baton dial with fluted bezel from 2012. I'm thinking to trade my Explorer (1) and a black bay red on bracelet and I'd have to throw another £100 on top for the trade. I bought both watches brand new October 2014.

I do like the DJ, but I've never done a trade before so don't know if I should or not. What would you guys do? I know ultimately it is my decision, but some of your thoughts would be useful.

Thanks for reading

M.

Oh by the way, currently have the LV (Hulk) and Pelagos (and the two which I'm thinking of trading)....I do plan to buy the blue pelagos in the near future.

I'm a big fan of that blue stick DJ2. I'd do it.

it would give you more diversity, so, i would go for it. i would have thought the deal could have been a tad better, but, i'm not sure about pricing.

I've tried to negotiate but that's the price/deal they're sticking at, but have offered a 24 month warranty on the DJ rather than the standard 12 month they offer.

I'd have a hard time parting with an Explorer. It's the quintessential Rolex sport watch

I would do it. The deal seems fair. I just did my first trade and understand your feelings. But this seems to be a great opportunity, and I'm a fan of the DJ (over the explorer).

PS: Keep the Hulk as your good luck piece.

Love the DJ2 that you are talking about.... But I wouldn't give up my explorer for it.

This is my exact conundrum. I do love the Explorer, but I do love the fluted bezel and shiny-ness of the DJ, I like the polished centre links and am not afriad of the scratches it'll get.

And they dropped the trade in price to £100 with 24 month warranty.

Well the choice seems clear!

Their offices are now closed, so will continue tomorrow and go and view the watch and see what I make of it (I tried one on xmas time and loved it). So far it's all been via email.

Don't know if it's been polished etc, I did ask, but he didn't reply to that question...so I will have to see myself.

The DJII blue dial is simply gorgeous. Let us know what you decide.

I recently acquired a TT DJ2. It's a great wearing watch. My third Rolex could easily be another DJ2 in SS with a white baton dial. I love mine.

DJ II Blue is a total classic. I would prefer it to be 40mm but it looks stunning in the metal. One of the finest blues in the industry IMHO, which is impressive considering blue dials are very hard to get right. Definitely worth the trade.

As a big fan of the blue stick dial, I would def be interested in moving those two for it. However, I would do a little shopping around and see if you could get a better deal.

And you may want to consider the smooth bezel...if you like it you could even save yourself some more bucks.

hey Larry, thanks for the input. One of the things that attracted me to the DJ II was the fluted bezel, so if i go for the DJ its got to be with a fluted bezel.

I did contact a couple other places, one offer was horrendous and the other didn't bother replying after a couple of attempts via email.

the swing is about $1500 between the Rolexes, I don't know the value of the BB

DJ2 is a beautiful model and with all the talk/BS about *discontinuing* them....collectible!
