Hi all,
I'm looking at making my first Rolex purchase (16610 Sub, no holes case.) I'd like to find one with the "ROLEX" engraving on the inner bezel. My question is this: would this engraving make a difference as far as resale value? Would this style be in greater demand than a SS Sub WITHOUT the engraving? Thank you for your answers! |

I'm not sure there is a consensus on what is more desirable, although the watches with the engraved rehaut are newer, so they may be worth slightly more.
I personally went the other direction and wanted to find a Sub without both lug holes nor the engraving. |

I just went to an AD and bought my sub in 2010. I think the engraved rolex rehaut is just an awesome touch.
I'd imagine that most would say find what you like and buy it. As for the desirability/value difference, I got nothing!

Got to say I don't notice my relatively old sub has no rehaut engraving and has lug holes, my modern Daytona does have Rolex engraving, all I notice is the watch not the sub parts. that said as per earlier posts the engraving is only on modern watches so they are generally more expensive unless referenced to an early vintage watch.

I think it makes a difference. That is the last of the run (near the end of an era). Prices are not high on them at the moment which is a strong selling point currently. I almost pulled the trigger on one Thursday as the price was attractive (softer I believe than a few years ago).

I'm not a fan of the engraved rehaut myself.

To answer your question, I don't think it's going to make much difference.

I have an A Serial Sub but never really preferred the 93150 bracelet . Never got it to fit well. I sold the bracelet and wear it on an Everest Rubber Strap.

No, nothing special about it; they all got it at around the same time-frame..

In theory I think it's a more cluttered look but honestly at arms distance you can't even tell it's there. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's more of an anti-counterfeiting technique then anything else. One thing I do prefer is a pearl covered with a sapphire crystal so I would be looking for that preferably. But really I would go for the best value to condition ratio and not worry about the rehault engraving. |

It's a personal preference really. I happen to like it. Just another small detail (of the many) for me to enjoy.

It's easier to swap bands with lug holes. It also depends on the age of the watch you're after. If you want a 16610 with lug holes, they stopped mid-to-late Y series (around Sep 2002). Anything after that and you won't find lug holes.
If you want 'ROLEX' rehaut engraving, anything from 2004 on. I personally prefer the engraved rehaut and no lug holes. As far as resale value goes - I imagine a well looked after Sub will be worth more than a neglected one regardless . . . Here's a chart I based that info on. R 1987 LUGS L 1988 LUGS E 1990 LUGS X 1991 LUGS N 1991 (NOV) LUGS C 1992 LUGS S 1993 LUGS W 1995 LUGS T 1996 LUGS U 1997 (AUG) LUGS A 1998 (NOV) LUGS P 2000 (JAN) LUGS K 2001 (SEP) LUGS/NO LUGS Y 2002 (SEP) NO LUGS SEL F 2003 (SEP) Reahaut engraving from 2004 D 2005 (APR) Z 2006 (MAY) M 2007 (AUG) V 2008 (AUG) G 2010 (JUN) |

I like the engraving on mine, but wouldn't pay up for it. So, no.

I don't care for the engraved rehaut but I haven't seen a huge price difference.
