Please evaluate this ref. 16660 ;-)

Gents, can you please let me know your thoughts on this ref 16660 that I have fallen for. It is a complete set, and the seller is A1.
Watch is circa 1984.

What is the story on this type of caseback?

Many thanks in advance!

The caseback looks to be from a newer model sea dweller?

did the seller have any idea where the bracelet came from? Looks like solid end links which is not correct for this year, but might have the original clasp.

By the numbering on the bracelet end links I'd suspect without further pics that the bracelet is aftermarket with a genuine clasp.

Thanks for your post.
From what i have read, the watch has the correct bracelet and this type of caseback is rare but seen on several other 16660s.

You're absolutely right, DRSD is a great resource, good job on your part.

THat has to be one of the first SEL bracelets rolex ever made! very cool!

A triple 6 to me is very desirable, that seems a very nice example, I'd jump on it if the price was right.

Many thanks!
I too find it to be my only grail aside of the ref 5514, so given that no flags has been risen I'll give it a go once I have returned from vaca :)

A watch like that won't last a few weeks. If you seriously want it maybe reach out to the the seller today.
