Restoring brushed finish
I made the grave mistake of taking my ladies' two-toned gold and stainless steel oyster to a regular jeweler to be cleaned. He polished the brushed stainless steel to a smooth, mirror finish. Does anyone know if I take it to a certified Rolex jeweler for service if the brushed finish can be restored? I am beside myself.

Welcome to TRF! I'm no expert by any means, but I believe it can be done. I'm sure the experts will chime in. Clearly an amateur move by your jeweler. Hope you get it rectified.

worry no further! I believe the brush is applied after the polish here is a link to a Daytona being finished in such a way. notice all the scratches are polished off the band and then the brushed finish is added after.

Yeah...as others have said, no worries, easy fix. Just make sure the next person you take it to has the credentials to work on a Rolex.

Should be an easy fix for RSC, horrible for a jewler to do this to a multi thousand dollar watch. I'd present him with the bill once it's fixed. Did you say anything to him? Welcome to TRF, btw.
