Of all the high end brands...
Pretty much the universal concensus that Hublot has the least respect on this forum?
Mostly stemming from attempts to be like ap? Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk |

This should be in the non-rolex section. That said, we have some members who have and love thier hublots.
It's a dead horse but yeah the derivative styling, oversized cases, foolish names like King bang boom, initial use of eta movements in expensive watches and such have become reason for many to dislike the brand. |

IMHO Hublot isn't a high-end brand. High-end priced yes.

No interest in that cartoonish brand. But I respect those who like Hublot. there is room for all watch lovers.

It's just watches.... I don't understand the "hate". Different strokes for different folks.

I love my SS/ceramic Big Bang, fantastic looking and very well made watch that gets a lot of compliments. Bought it used for $6000 (msrp $13,000), I would never buy one new though, they dont hold their value like a PP, Rolex or AP.
I see Hublot as a -design brand- that makes good watches, but there are others with better history, movements, and steady value. They are having a moment in the spotlight because of the way they're marketing themselves as a brand, huge marketing machine behind, but ultimately it's going to take a lot more than flashy watches and athlete endorsements for them to stay relevant in the long run. |

Hublot is a fashion brand, not a high end brand.

Agree Hublot lost respect /never gained. They try too hard and every other watch was dedicated to this or that sports star/event.
The sad thing is that AP too is heading that way Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I do not like Hublot watches, at least most of them. However, I think there is nothing wrong if someone likes them. Watches are personal. Just like food. One man's meat is another man's poison.

I like their most plain models, have never owned one and unlikely to, buying new from an AD, would be one brave call for mine.

To his/her own on this but you can't expect favorable reviews in an AP forum on this question! The one fascinating part of Hublot is the business end of it because J.-C. Biver turned it around for them in a big way when he took over.

Really a watch company comes down to a few things, and certainly some of it is subjective.
1. History - Hublot was founded in 1980 (Wikipedia) so that can't come close to competing with the likes of Rolex (1905) and AP (1875). 2. Innovation - Hublot was the first company to put a rubber strap on a luxury watch which I applaud. They also have made some innovations with materials and do offer in-house movements on some of their watches. But largely, they have used modified ETA movements, and their designs are largely knock-offs of AP. If that's not enough, compare their Spirit of Big Bang line with Richard Mille and you'll see what I mean. Plus, their "out there" designs of a lot of the Big Bangs will not appeal to the masses. 3. Price/value - this is probably the biggest knock on Hublot that I can see. Look at MSRP and resale value and Hublot takes a huge hit on the secondary market. They aren't unique, but it shows you what many people think of Hublot. So like a lot of watches, if you can get one for a good price, the equation changes. Plus, for those of use with smaller wrists who can't pull off an Offshore, a smaller 41mm Big Bang or an older Super B may do the trick. Given its better WR rating compared to my AP (50m AP vs. 100m H), mine is a keeper unless I consolidate my collection. |

Perhaps rubber strap with gold as well as using different materials for watch construction. I recall Hublot being derided for using rubber straps on 'supposed' high end watch years ago before anyone tried doing that on a large or at least regular basis, not as a niche ephemeral experiment. However now that it's being accepted mainstream by the established watch houses it's being lauded as a cool look even on expensive timepieces-funny how that works.

hublot is pretty adventurous in their designs. you gotta give them that much. it almost like a parody of a luxury sports watch that became so popular that it became its own genre
