Rolex Precision. 1930's? Opinions
One guy got this watch and wants to know more about it.
To me it looks like the dial is not the original/ posible redial. Same doubts with the hands. The serial no is 118422. What do you guys think? |

118422 is stamped on the caseback? That's likely the serial number, not the reference, and the watch is mid 1950s.

I think it looks fine all around. The dial is appropriate style. The print looks clear. The fonts are good. The leaf hands are a correct style for a non lume dial of that type. The case condition matches the dial.
I'm looking at a photo. I don't have the watch in my hands but first impression says no issues. Doesn't look like it got a lot of wear and there is no lume material to discolor any portion no matter how small...if the watch wasn't near moisture it could easily look like that. Also the markers I can't tell if they are "applied" or embossed. They look applied but looks are deceiving some times. If they are embossed, even the crown alone, they get polished during the stripping and refinishing process. Do you see how flat that crown is? It's not rounded at all. It could be refinished but I would be surprised. Also note the pristine condition of the hands and the color tone match to the markers on the dial. That looks like it is just as it came to me. |

Thanks for your detailed analysis!
Personally, I had my doubts but I am no expert. I normally expect to see some patina in the dial, markers and hands when the watch is over 50 yrs old. But it seems like there are exceptions! |

Could it be an enamel dial? Is it shiny? Those stay white for many decades.

It doesn't appear outwardly to be a redial but higher resolution photos of the dial would help
