Tudor Ref: 79260
Hi,
I discover this forum today and stucked there, I am about to buy a Tudor prince date chronograph ref:79260, I know it has a ETA 7750 based movement and this is considering me a bit. Does anyone have any idea about this watch? By the way it will come to me with $1500US price, with all box and papers. Thanks in advance |

Welcome to TRF!
Yeah, that`s really great watch. The one that you want to buy is probably either Tiger (model that was folowed in campaign with Tiger Woods) or post-Tiger model. And, basicaly, all Tudor chronos are the same - legendary Oyster case (on older models signed as Rolex Oyster case) powered by unbreakable Valjoux 7750 movement. And great thing about that watch is that (unlike Rolex Daytona), it has date function! So, for 1500 $ THERE IS NO WAY THAT YOU CAN BUY ANYTHING NEAR AS GOOD as Tudor Chrono! And, due discontinuing production of this model, I think that it`s price will surely rise in time... BTW, Dan Pierce (one of our fellow members) got one from pre- Tiger era, and it`ll be great if he would write few lines about this extraordinary watch... There is no mistake with Tudor Chrono, go for it!

Vukota is correct. The older Tudor chronos have Rolex crowns, cases, and bracelets [my 79170 having the Tudor clasp]. Your 79260 will have Tudor case, crown, and bracelet but still made by Rolex as far as I know. That reference also sports the black tackymeter bezel.
The next generation was the 79280P, 79270P, 79260P and all had polished lugs. Check the reference # between the lugs as well as the serial # with the papers that come with the watch. The price sounds right. Good luck and post some pics when you get it. Welcome to TRF! dP

Tudor chrono 792x0 series are very good watch and it is now ceased to produce. I believe it will be getting more and more collectible.
The earliest batch of 792x0 series still come with rolex crown, rolex case back and tudor oyster bracelet. For the very earliest type of dial, it still marked oysterdate (similar to the 791x0 series) while latter one had changed to prince date. The tudor 792x0 series changed to tudor crown and tudor case back in 1997 when Tiger Woods started come into play. However, the tiger logo is no longer used on the dial since 2002. Thanks for the clarification, again, Bagel. You'd think I'd know this info by now.
