When to expect an update to the 114060?
Hi folks,
I've been into watches for a few years now, and after studying hundreds of brands/models and buying/flipping a handful of watches, I've determined that my grail watch - the one I'll own and wear daily for the rest of my life - is the no-date Submariner, the 114060. I've had my eyes fixed on this watch for about a year now and am saving up, slowly but surely. It will be a fine day when I finally own it, 1-2 years from now. My question to you fine folks is this: since the 114060 came out in 2012, should I be expecting Rolex to update this watch in 2017, 5 years later? Or does Rolex typically update the Submariner line less frequently than that? I would love to hear your thoughts on when you think Rolex will update the 114060, and what those changes might be. Thank you and have a great day! |

Depends on what you term "update".
The predecessor, the 14060/14060M went over 20 years without much of a change. It got a movement change along with the rest of the line in ~99 and a few minor cosmetic changes. I think that the 114060 will retain the looks and base for many years. It may get one of the newer movement iterations along the line, but there won't be any fanfare if it does.

I would buy the current version when you can afford it and not worry about the future cause no one knows what Rolex is going to do

No one knows for sure but it will probably be a good while before a significant update sees the light of day. Perhaps the new movement will make its way in but even that may take years. Buy and enjoy, life's too short to wait for updates :)

If an update/upgrade to the 114060 had already been announced, or there was a defined release schedule then waiting would be wise.
However, this isn't the case and so waiting is just a recipe for never buying. Buy the 114060 and enjoy it daily, you can always upgrade at a later date if u want. John.

When to expect an update to the 114060?
It's a great watch. Buy when you can... The 3135 movement is freaking awesome and I would be happy to have it power watches for the rest of my life. Hell I'd probably exchange my heart for one if I could. I do prefer the older model though because it doesn't have love handles. |

The only thing I see on the horizon would be a possible movement change and/or an option for the oyster flex rubber bracelet. And those are big giant maybes.
So buy what you like now and don't worry about the future. |

Here's a 50 year old one! To a novice "gee, it looks exactly the same" lol. If any changes are made, I'm sure it won't be noticeable in our life time.

I am hoping they will offer it with the oysterflex rubber bracelet and bring back the drilled lug holes. That would be cool way to separate it more from the sub date.

Buy it now. Otherwise, who knows how long you will have to wait. Then when Rolex does eventually update it, youll be asking yourself "should i wait for the next update...what if its a bigger update?....." Could go on forever
