I have spent a lifetime collecting cufflinks ( yes I know that makes me a sad bugger ) and a golden rule of a cufflink is never, never and I repeat never, use a T bar mechanism. It scrunches up the cuff.

Always use a chain link cuff, the cuff will be smooth and your watch will slide under it much more smoothly.
