Haha I know.... It is interesting, who ever buys this thing will be LAUGHING in the future. This thing like any special Patek will be highly sought after.
"Patek Philippe produced an ultra-complicated (with 24 functions) pocket-watch for Henry Graves, Jr., who entered into a friendly horological competition with James Ward Packard, which resulted in the production of the watch sold to Mr. Graves in 1933. After his death, the watch was auctioned at Sotheby's in December 1999 for USD$11,000,000, at that time the most expensive timepiece ever sold.[2] On April 10, 2008, 2003 "Ref. 5002P Sky Moon Tourbillon" platinum Patek Philippe tourbillon wristwatch made the world record as the most expensive modern wristwatch sold at Hongkong Sotheby's for HK$11.75 million ($1.49 million). It erased the previous record of Vacheron Constantin Tour de l'Ile sold at Antiquorum for $1.4 million in Geneva in 2005.[3]" From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Amazing watch. Of course not as special as the one in the text above but just goes to show. |

Why buy something like that over eBay? If one were to be in the market to sell a celestial, then the logical choice would be through one of the auction houses.

Thanks, I will for sure. Some of the members here have been very kind to me and helped me realise or learn some of the stuff that was not yet there so just my way of trying to contribute to this forum. It is packed with information and is a great place to seek advice or facts from other owners.
As for investment ohhhhhhhhh yes. If that kind of coin was knocking around in my safe freely I would be waiting for the auction to end The Patek Philippe brand simply put are masters of complexity. That is what makes me like them even more but basically to me a safe queen in a lot of cases. An Oyster is the ultimate all around watch. Will look good with virtually anything and in most cases the ones on metal braceslits can take anyting you can dish out nearly. |

You would be shocked at the things that sell on ebay. Not like I will buy it LOL but there has to be security measures and bidder pre approval.

What's amazing to me is that any watch, no matter how beautiful, can be worth that much.

I know, to me this is what makes me value my collection. Althought there is nothing NEAR that in it yet, it still gives me a great feeling like i'm building my own tiny empire or something lol. As a member pointed out there are many good brands in competition but to me this is the ultimate, but that is just me.
EDIT: Added some photo's from the auction courtsey of jewelsontime ebay store, just incase for whatever reason it is not visible after but should be. Espectially like this last one |
