Being offensive

Do any of you guys worry about being offensive, if say, you're wearing an all gold piece, or a flashy watch in general?

No. Never. It's about you and your demeanor, not your watch.

Does wearing it make you a jerk? Do you flaunt it or brag about it? Or is it simply a watch you wear on your wrist. They say clothes don't make the man. it applies here equally well.

I sport a YG Sub and like I said your average person won't notice. I can thank all those gold plated Michael Kors out there for my low profile lol.

Yes, I certainly do worry about being offensive. As noted, most will not even notice - but more than you think certainly will and I'm a very empathetic person. I was born and raised on the other side of being wealthy, so I've been their shoes. I was never offended, but I know and heard opinions from many peers that were.

My latest aquisition is a vintage Red 1680. There are so many reasons I love this watch, but one in relation with this topic is that it's so low key that literally nobody but WIS even know there is anything special about it. Most of the time it's on Nato, which dresses it down even more. In fact, in a given situation when confronted, I play it off as some "old beat up Rolex on a nylon strap". It definitely goes less noticed than my Yacht-Master :)

On that note have a great weekend all

Tell them it's fake. Problem solved. You shouldn't be worried about offending people by wearing a watch you like. However, I personally don't really like full YG/RG pieces because I like to be a bit more under the radar.

That's how I feel, I didn't grow up very wealthy, but I'm doing pretty good for myself now and am in the market for a Datejust II as my first purchase.

How can one be offensive for simply wearing a gold watch? A lot of assumptions would have to be going on in the mind of the offended. If you saw Donald Trump or Eli Manning wearing one, you would probably say that it's cool. Many of us that wear YG are successful or worked very hard in their own fields; please don't presume everyone that wears a gold watch is a jerk or is offensive; it is a choice. Next you will tell us our cars or homes are offensive because they cost more than the average.

Another way to think about it is if somebody mentions it in anything except an inquiring manner, they are being rude!

The wearing of a fancy watch is only offensive when a Sun Devil does it.
Then again, if an ASU alum is involved, there's a 99% chance it's a fake.
