What is going on with buyers?

I have been a member on here for over 5 years and have had great experiences and have met great people on here!! I took a break form selling watches on here for about 8 months and decided to get back into it. I have sold watches since then, but what is going on with this new breed of buyers, that after you answer all their concerns and questions and agree to buy, completely disappear. Mind you, I know sometimes people change their mind, that is the nature of this business, but in the last 2 weeks, I have had watches "sold" to over 6 people and they disappear...

Until there is consideration (payment), there has been no contract.
Probably a blessing they didn't buy as you may receive a scathing review for not having served a Pepsi.

This is a tough game to play. People act the same way with rings, cars, houses- things change, they find better deals ect..

I agree with you, but it seems to be more rampant now than anything I have experienced in the past, maybe new users, who knows.

Or a chargeback because it wasn't wrapped right or it wasn't the coke they were expecting.

I think it's the way of the world these days.
There is always another buyer, another seller, another deal.
The Internet has a lot to answer for, not to mention world wide postage in less than a week. It's just to easy.

Interesting to hear the seller perspective.

I'd hope that if someone said they were going to buy and then decided to back out, that for whatever the reason, they would have the courtesy to contact you and let you know.

I've had the same experience. Sold three watches last week and it was painful.

Old tactic...they want you to "chase" after them and lower your price...they'll claim they found a better price elsewhere and ask that you match it...

I hope I wasn't one of those buyers!

I always do what I say I will do.

If not, for some strange reason, I'm "man" enough to let you know so you aren't left wondering... I think that used to be called "common courtesy" but is seems to be less and less common in the entitled generation.

I have personally had some crazy experiences selling on eBay over the years too. I don't sell very often now because of the expense and hassle.

That's why I don't take any "new" members seriously when they said they are ready to pay now.

If every Rolex came with a crystal glass and a diet coke, they'd fly off the forum

A lot of times when I am out looking I will have 2 or 3 deals in the works for the same piece, trying to get the best watch at the best price. Nothing wrong with that.

It would be nice however to let the other sellers know you moved on so they don't hold a piece for you.

"Sold" or "hold"? I interpret hold as a commitment pending financials to be sorted out, a handshake of sorts. Sold is financial details exchanged awaiting payment. Am I wrong?
