What was / is your 5711 (blue) wait time?

Guys,

I'm wondering how long it took you to get your 5711 once it was ordered. I've been waiting for 6 mos and none of my usual ADs have even received one.

Thanks as always!

Depends on where you are and if you get lucky. In HK, the wait is ridiculous unless you have a very good relationship with the AD. I went to 6 ADs; and not even one bothered to ask me if I wanted to be put on the wait list. When I asked I to put to be put on the wait list, the staff at one shop told me not to bother while another wrote my name on a piece of scrap paper he found laying around underneath the counter.

I got mine less than a month ago and the waiting time was roughly 3 months. I was lucky...

I waited maybe a couple of months. You want to find an AD that has no/little wait list.

None, when I decided, there was one available here.
We made a deal and I had it in a day.

Similar to this.
Once I decided, I hunted here and found a brand new unworn one.
Not my name on the papers, but I am the only one to wear it. At a pretty decent price as well I would say.
Works for me!

waited about six months - was not in any immediate rush to buy one so just waited until my AD received one

Mines white but I called ads across the country, found one, negotiated it to my liking.

Thanks all - you've given me up. Much appreciated. Maybe I just need to start calling all US ADs until I find one :)

I called 5 places in Tokyo and they all said that they would not put my name on a waiting list, because there were too many people who have been waiting for years already.

The final place where I called was very interesting to talk to. He said there were 10 people on the list and the next person in line had been waiting 3 years. He said PP sends maybe 1 or even up to 3 watches per year per store. He was not in my area and said that he cannot put names on a wait list over the phone. It had to be done in person. He didn't actually offer to put my name on the wait list, but hinted to that effect, I guess, saying: "If you ever happen to be in the area, drop by the store.

Poking around the Internet every day in my search for a new 5711, I was pleasantly surprised one day to see one actually "in stock" at a reputable, local gray-market store I knew well and had bought watches from in the past. I rushed to the store and saw the watch, it was 2 months old. I laughed too. The warranty was issued by the out-of-town AD who told me to "drop by the store". I wasn't sure how it had gotten there, but didn't bother to think about that and bought the watch in an instant.

Just curious, which gray market store did you buy it. I am in Tokyo as well and my usual haunts are Hoseki hiroba, Jack Road, Kame-kichi, and Ginza Rasin. Wondering if there are any others I might be missing.

5711's average wait time is about a yr and half and some could be more than two yrs. i even heard some ADs don't take wait list anymore.

I think wait time depends on which market.

I went to a few ADs in Singapore earlier this year. Each showed me their wait list consistently of 8 - 10 people, wouldn't take a deposit and couldn't commit to a time line; said they might receive a blue 5711 1x or 2x per year.

However, my usual AD was able to get me a a blue dial 5711 in 3 weeks. He mentioned that if the AD believes the buyer is genuine then there are ways for the AD (if he is willing to push hard) to jump the queue or influence the allocations on certain pieces with Patek when country shipments come in every few months before Patek allocates to the ADs. But it sounded like this wasn't something ADs like to do frequently.

I also think in Singapore at least perhaps it's the same 8 - 10 people on some of these waiting lists and it also feels like certain markets e.g. Singapore are allocated more pieces. When I was in NYC it was a 10 month wait for a white dial 5711 from the AD.

Yes - I agree, I've not seen a waiting list for white dial either in NYC and Singapore.

I wasn't looking. My AD received 1 3 weeks ago (unexpectedly) asked if I was interested. I said yes based purely on the hype! Never seen it in the metal!
