What is your "Holy Grail" watch?
I'm thinking of selling off all my Breitlings-Omegas and IWC (maybe not IWC)
Thats going to be a hard one, to get a SS and Gold YM. Have my DJ for dress and YM for bumming around ? |

I could do with a Daytona ref. 6263, silver dial, black bezel insert.

If I could only have one "nice" watch, it would be an SS Sub date. That's the one watch that has always meant "Rolex" to me (and also, "nice watch"). It's ironic, since it'll probably be one of the last ones I buy - I'm sort of working around the edges in the collection.
Of course, it would make me very unhappy to live without the Expy II. Or the GMT Coke (sorry, Larry). Thank goodness we don't live in a world of scarcity where we can only have one nice watch.

Yeah me too- they are just a different level of watchmaking and design- and then the complications. But maybe one day......

I have it! The Sub Date is mine. Certainly not the most rare or expensive model out there, and there are some others I would certainly love to have to go along with it...
Someday, before I go toes up, they would be: a nice old Hamilton Masterpiece pocket watch, a decent Patek that smiles at me- doesn't have to be a complicated one, maybe a Calatrava- a Speedmaster Pro Moon watch, a GMT or GMT II and various others that I have always admired. But, the pressure is off now because I have the real Grail watch for me! A Bond Sub or Red Sub or anything like that is nice, but I was always most excited to have a good Sub that I didn't need to fret over and could be worn every day without fear of damage to a valuable collectible. A 5513 or 1680 would be fine, too, but I would probably worry about dinging them up too much on a daily basis so the 16610 works for me as a everyday wearer. Feels grand to have it. |

Although I am...
also quite fond of my 1972 Submariner 5513, all original with box, booklets, anchor, paper and extras.

Those are nice, guys.
Springer, I have to admit a 1675 from '71 would be awfully nice to me, too. That was a very good year! |

In a Rolex it would be this Day Date though maybe in Rose Gold.

My LV!
I think I'm there. Passed by the Rolex counter at Jared's and only spent 2 minutes looking at the models. Walked away feeling very content. |

My grail watch, has changed from the Y/G DD that I have owed for the last 7 yrs or so.
To a new one!!!! I would love to get a complication watch, such as an IWC or a Patek. I think that are such remarkable watches, after I have spent the last couple of weeks researching all about them.

I have wanted a bimetal black faced daytona for many years. I remember first seeing a fake version of this watch about 20 years ago as a teenager (PS, don't quote me on this, my memory has faded and it's quite possible that bimetal and/or black faces weren't available then ... but that's what I remember!!) - loved it, but always knew I wanted an original. No other watch "does it" for me and I always told myself I would resist the temptation to buy something expensive until I could get "the one" ... and I'm so glad I did, as it made the purchase much more special for me. Obviously the design has changed somewhat since I first saw it, but I always promised myself that I would one day own a brand new one.
