I got one in the Bahamas and had no trouble importing it. Just paid my duties and went on my way.

I think buying one on vacation and declaring it and bringing it back in has always been fine. What I am curious about is shipping one in or bringing in your collection after living abroad.

I DHL'd one to my brother. Declared it on the forms and he paid the duty to clear customs (it wasn't much). I would think that if it was restricted they would have said something.

there is an interesting discussion over on VRF, which i wont link, regarding this. it appears it is fine to import into the US, there just seems to be a ton of misinformation regarding its restriction.

Isn't it that you can't bring more than one into the USA at a time, unless you arrange it beforehand and get permission?

Wow. I too thought you could only import one Rolex at a time, and only when bringing it along in person, no shipments.

Clear as mud - many smaller dealers in Europe will not even attempt to ship to the US.

King,
I just recently imported one from Canada that cleared customs without issue. I asked the seller specifically about import and he said there would be no problem. It was an auction house though and not a dealer. Additionally, I remember Watches of Knightsbridge had a disclaimer involving importing Rolex into the US and I can no longer find this. Just my experience. D |
