Rolex Warranty
Greetings!
Assuming buying a Rolex from a non-AD Seller, but getting a warranty card with the Buyer's name on it - does this provide a full warranty from Rolex? Or does Rolex put other mechanisms - e.g. registration by an AD - to prevent this maneuver?? |

I've never had a problem taking a watch for service (Humbertown in Etobicoke Ontario/Canada) With another person's name on it, my name on it, No name on the card....always has come back from Rolex fine.
I would hazard unless it's been reported stolen it's fine. |

Thanks - my question was with respect to service/repairs under warranty (no cost to owner) if the watch was purchased brand new and under the period (2 years?) covered by the warranty. Assume the card is stamped/dated by an AD but no sales receipt from the AD.

they go by the date on the warranty card. the warranty card itself must have the ADs name on it. |

Op, the answer is essentially yes. If you have the warranty card filled out by an AD and need any work done, they will honor it during the warranty period, whether two or five years. They seem to be getting a little bit more specific with requirements so who knows what will happen in the future. Five years is quite a long time and with the rate most Rolexes switch hands, I could see the sales receipt being an issue in the future. |

Provide it is a watch originally sold by a US AD, you should not have any problems as the Rolex USA warranty is a full warranty and thus follows the watch regardless of who owns it. It has been reported that Rolex NY is asking for a bill of sale when the watches originated with foreign ADs.

Rolex Warranty
I was just at the RSC in NYC with a Tudor and no questions asked. They checked my concern, no problem, free of charge, without the need to provide anything.

If the watch you buy has a valid warranty with it, then the warranty will be honored. If it does not come with a valid warranty, such as a Grey Market import, it will not be honored.. The real issue is that most of the time you will not know if the warranty is valid until you need it. The arguments will go on and on - any legitimate Grey Market Dealer will tell you that it does not have a warranty and usually substitute their own. (this goes for any Grey Market product: electronics, car parts, cameras, watches, etc.)
