1680 Red as the one watch?
Having bought, worn and photographed every watch in the collection - I got this crazy idea that I just need my 1680 Red, really.
Would you keep the Red Sub as the one watch - and sell everything else? |

The 1680 is the quintessential Rolex, in my humble opinion.

If needed I think I would if I had your collection.

I would keep the Pepsi and the 42 mm Explorer II , to go along with that beautiful 1680. It would keep color in your collection and keep you from going on a buying spree after the one watch experiment is over.

You could diversify...
The rest of the watches are quite nice...but having the quintessential Rolex with the Red Sub (IMHO) I would branch out. |

As much as I love your red 1680, I couldn't have a vintage icon as my only watch. I'd be too worried to bang it up, lose it or even swim with it. But this is the reason we have more than one watch. It goes without saying... great shot!

1680 red one watch I would never give up? Yes. My only one watch? No. Too many others I can't give up either

I could live with the Pepsi as the workhorse and the red as the special wearer. Agree you could branch out and try something different like an AP since you like sports watches.

I would pick one of the two Explorer II's and one of the other two Subs and sell the two you desire the least. But I would keep all the rest. It is a great collection. Congrats!

As time goes by, the more I'm starting to realize I could easily be a one watch guy. That would be a perfect one watch collection...

One can always buy a new Rolex, but not a Red Sub.

Too nice/rare/valuable a watch to wear exclusively.
Maybe keep one or 2 others, but there are some redundancies there. Though I don't think I'd have the necessary intestinal fortitude to decide which ones to cull. Cheers, Ben |

I agree with the Patek! Haha. I think the 1680 is all that's needed in a Rolex collection, but hard for me to say no to other brands.
More realistically, Definitely could see your collection slimmed to one sub (1680 for sure), one GMT, and one EXII. |

I also think you could get by with the one Rolex 1680 Submariner being it's the most iconic symbol of the brand. But I also have a vested interest cause its also the ONLY one I own. LOL

1680 Red as the one watch?
Nice collection, if I were you I'd keep the Red Sub 1680 the Pepsi 16700 and the Exp ll 16550 and buy a Day Date, you need Gold in the collection or a Daytona!
