Should I flip/sell my GMT2c?

So about two months ago, I picked up a 16710. I got the Pepsi and Coke inserts to go with the black insert. Well, it's hardly left my wrist especially with the Pepsi insert. Point being, between the 16710 and bluesy, my ceramic gmt has been forgotten.

I'm wondering if I should flip towards a Daytona or sell it and put the money in the bank? Or should I hold onto it? It has a bit of sentiment as it was my first Rolex.

Your opinions are welcomed. Should I hang onto it as it was my first? So torn.

Tell you what.... I really hate to see you in this type of dilemma... So I want to help.

Send the Ceramic to me, heck, I'll even pay for the shipping.

No reason to thank me... just trying to help out a fellow TRFer....

I wouldn't sell my first and I certainly wouldn't get rid of the 116710 in favor of a 16710. The C, in my opinion, is a much better and much better looking watch. - 2 cents.

If you are not sentimental about the watch sell it and try a Daytona.

My first Rolex was really a hard work achievement. Will never sell it for sure. So I guess it depends what it took you to get it.

A GMT2c was also my first Rolex.
And it also has some sentimental value.
I don't wear it often, but I won't be selling or flipping it.

If yours really does mean something to you, probably better to keep it.
But if not, a Daytona would be a nice addition to your 16710 and blue 2-tone Subc.

Sounds like time to sell. Set the money aside for when you are sure on the next one.

I held onto my first for over a year after it was mostly unworn just because it was my first. Once I sold it I haven't thought about it since, so I would go for the Daytona.

It would be hard for me to get rid of my first, even if you'd replace it that replacement will not be your first Rolex. I'd lock it up in the safety deposit box for 6 months and see if you miss it at all. If you forget about it then take it out and flip it.

If it doesn't get wrist time and you can get out at around even...I would go for the Daytona if you love it. I wouldn't sell for the sake of selling u less you need the money.

I don't get this mentality, it's a watch, not a kid... How many have their first car? Or first girlfriend/boyfriend?

Sell it if you don't wear it, throw the $$ in the bank and then decide if you still want a Daytona or not.

I'd give it a few months- put the gmt away in the safe and don't wear it, don't take it out, don't do anything. If at the end of the trial period, you're OK, get rid of the gmt. Now as for buying a Daytona? Seems like you're pretty happy with the two that you have now, so I'd wait it out.

I used to say that I would never get rid of my first Rolex. I flipped it. A first Rolex is great, but now I think that this alone is not enough of a sentimental value, especially as you've got two others. Obviously if it was a hand me down or a gift, that's a different story. But if I bought it for myself and I have a collection of Rolexes? It can go. But that's just me.

A watch you've worn regularly over say 10yrs has more sentimental value than the first Rolex you bought and don't wear.

I just flipped my 116710LN in favour of a 16710. With a DJII in the arsenal, I wanted my tool watch to look a little less fancy.

Great advice, Sarge This is exactly what I'd do if I were in the OP's shoes

In all seriousness, I had a Daytona for several years, then sold it, deciding to go with a bit of a simpler dial (my old eyes began to find the Day dial a bit... crowded). Having said that, the Daytona was one of the most... "exciting" watches I've ever owned; I truly enjoyed it every day.

I wouldnt sell it since it is your first...but if there is no longer sentimental value then just do it. Go for the Daytona for variety
