Polished lugs

Has anyone polished there lugs on datejust models before Rolex started bulking the lug size and polishing them. I am thinking about having this done on my datejust. Opinions?

You may want to check the authenticity of your watch sir...its looks a bit "off" to me.

Nope, but I'd get that to the RSC to have the crown centred between the minute markers and have that datewheel adjusted so the date's centred in the window, mate.

the bezel diamonds looks to be either set unaligned or had taken a couple of bumps.

Aftermarket bezel was on the watch when I purchased it

Could that be off because of whoever installed the aftermarket bezel?

I was gonna say... "Does the watch have an oval shape to it?"

It must be that bezel... Check the watch's authenticity.

How can you tell for sure..I bought from a "family friend" jeweler who has a watchmaker who checks the authentication of each watch. I have the receipt with serial # and all and if it is 100% fake than I will return it.

There are a few "visual distortions" but I highly doubt a different angle would correct them. I'm not going to point out other "flaws" but I would ensure that your aftermarket bezel and all the other components of the watch are "correct"

Well, sounds like you already know the bezel is aftermarket, but aside from that and in general, the outlook should really be "if it's not 100% authentic, then you should return it". In other words, any single counterfeit part on a watch will deem the watch counterfeit, in the eyes of Rolex that is, so if it's 1% fake, 99% fake or 100% fake, it's still fake (according to rolex).

While I agree the watch is fake, I think you're wrong about your 2nd and 4th points...

Definitely get the watch checked out by someone "other than" the family friend, let us know the outcome!

Good luck

The "L" lines up right under the crown and it's straight, and there's no evidence of lume falling-off the hands. That's all silly talk.

ignoring the particular watch above, i would say NO, i would never polish the thin lugs of the prior generation DJs....indeed, the thin and brushed lugs are two things i very much like about it compared the new generation of DJs.

I hope you got a great deal on the watch. I mean if it makes you happy, then by all means keep and enjoy it. Just know that there to the trained eye, there are some noticeable things about it that stand out.

Look at the first minute marker and the sixty minute marker, is the crown centered between them

I thought you were referring to the ROLEX dial printing, which itself, looks fine to me. The crown, or the minute markers, is/are off. I agree.

Also all the diamond markers look out of wack some are almost touching the minute markers while others show a large gap between.
