Help! Rolex Dropped and Bezel Scratched/Nicked-Can it be Repaired?
Greetings. Dropped a SS Yachtmaster II and scratched/nicked the bezel in one of the grooves. Can this be repaired at a AD? Do I have to send it out to Switzerland? Please advise. I am very worried and I just want the watch to look perfect as it is only a few months old. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Take it to the AD they'll probably send it to Dallas to get repaired. Don't think that would be under warrenty so you'll probably have to pay but they'll replace the part for you and it will look as good as new.
How do you like the YM II? Do you notice it's weight?

Lord of Rolex - So it is actually "nicked' in between the metal grooves right at the border of the ceramic bezel under the "T" in "Master". Do you think it can simply be polished or worked? Do you have any idea how much Bezel replacement would be (roughly)? As far as the Yachmaster II is concerned, I absolutely love it. I have read in this forum that a lot of guys want to replace their watch for another model after the first few months due to getting the "itch". I can honestly tell you that I love the watch more now than the first time I saw it in the showcase. What is the the weight issue that you are referring to? I find it to be an extremely comfortable fit, and the colors are insane.

Since you're asking about the watch weight I attached a few pictures of my watches on scales leftover from an older thread specifically about watch weights.

Replacing that bezel would be $500-800 I would guess.

I have to say that watches do get dinged and scratched.. This won't be the only time and spending too much time on repairs or losing sleep will be something you do every week if you start down that road.
Most any watchmaker of jeweler can brush or spot polish the area and make it less noticeable.

I crashed my mt bike and destroyed a ss date just. They replaced some links, bezel and crystal, light polish and it looked new...$1000.00 later.

To answer your question, of course can be repaired the question is
do you want to part with it for couple of months & spend speculatively speaking of around $1-2k for new ceramic insert & perhaps new bezel to replace with new parts if damage not that bad. A photo would help. |

I think it may be more. You'll honestly just have to just go to an AD and just get it done.
That baby needs to be 100%

Won't be your last, leave it alone until it takes a couple more hits then replace it imo.

Emir, I understand that you want to have the watch look as perfect as possible, but trust me when I say it won't be the last hit the bezel takes.
If you ever hit your watch against something, the bezel will probably take the full impact. I would leave it as is, and get over it if you can. At the next service have it replaced and she will be as new again. I had this happen to one of my 5-digit Submariners. I removed the insert and the bezel and tried to get it arranged. Problem is that where it took the hit, metal got distorted out of place, and it is nearly impossible to get it back where it used to be, without you keep noticing it. I hope this helps...

By the photos I would say the damage is not bad enough to justify the cost of a new bezel. My subc has scratches on it and I stopped stressing it after the second one appeared. I would personally wait till service to get it fixed.

Yes, I was thinking more of the insert, but if the damage is just to the bezel it will be over a grand I think. Doesn't look big enough for me to send in.

X2
Its bound to happen again if you wear it, I thought you had like a cracked bezel & or scuffed/cracked ceramic insert. I couldnt even see it till you pointed it out & still barely noticeable. With all thats going on in YMII thats the last place your eyes will go. I think I would remove the protective plastics first if your worried about esthetics. That being said a cape cod cloth might help if you know how to use it depending how deep it is. If not any competent should be able to make it disappear. Or you can send it to Rikki. |

I'd live with it or repair it and leave it in a safe for the future. |
