New DJII running fast
I bought a DJ II like two months ago. New in box from a watch broker.
I noticed that it runs pretty fast. I gained about 12 mins in 30 days. I put the time back to the proper time and in about 4 days i gained 2 and a half minutes. I wear it everyday and i take it off for about 7 hours a night while i sleep on my bedside table. What does this mean? What can i do about this? Should i let the seller know? Please let me know what you think.

What Rolex will probably tell you to do is let the power reserve empty out, then give it a full 35-40 winds, and it should run smoothly again. If not, take it up with the seller.

My wife's datejust did the same thing. It turns out it got magnetized.
After you verify it's still running fast after a full wind, if you have a compass handy, put your watch under the compass and see if the hand moves. If it does, you can either take to a watch place and they can demagnetize for you or just pick one up on amazon for ~$15. There's also videos on youtube showing before and after. After I demagnetized hers, it returned to being +4/day. |

My Explorer behaved like that when bought new. It made a round trip to service center and was fixed. It's not normal, and I don't think it's magnetized either. Just something wrong in the movement.

If its magnetized would normally gain more than that. More than likely will be a quick regulation job, unless the watch as been dropped or knocked.

If you have a properly completed warranty card, an AD should take it in and ship to an RSC. At least mine did when I requested a regulation under warranty on a watch purchased from a trusted seller here. But you may just want to take it into the Beverly Hills RSC on Wilshire. |

Is the warrenty card the card with the serial number on it. It has a sellers signature and date purchased on the back of it. Or am I missing something. I know for panerai the warrenty is written in the booklet.

I had the same problem with my Omega Aqua Terra. I demagnetized it and ran fine.

You can buy a demagnetizer for very cheap on eBay or Amazon. Buy one and use it. If it fixes the issue, great! if not, you're not out very much money.

I had a similar problem with my DJ II a few months ago it was only 8 months old and started losing about 6-8 mins a day. I took it into the Rolex Service Centre and they fixed it after a couple of days. I think it was a problem with the balance wheel. Anyway, since getting it back its been losing 1-2 secs a day which I am more than happy with.

A regulation is in order. You will be glad you did after it comes back.
