Well enough threads about Explorer I short hands, I have something new now.

I always feel that Tudor Black Bay has larger minute hand than needed. This hand was specially desigend for this watch and not used from some other model(like incase of 214270) so I don't understand the point of the longer hand than any of the other watches. If you haven't noticed, it'll be fine but once you see it, you can't un-see it. Obviously it doesn't make any difference to the watch and functionality but the balance is missed by 1-2mm, I think.

All borrowed pics from online - check the other watchs, no other watch has overlapping the minute marker, they stop 1mm before and rightly point it out to the marker and not go over it.

Interesting, have never noticed. Doesn't bother me but then I don't own one. I can understand why it my bother you though.

Seconds had always reaches chapter ring for any watch including 214270; doesn't make sense even minute hand to reach chapter ring. Whenever the end shape of the minute hand is changing into an arrow shape ( > ) it is pointing to something, which is minute marker, not going over it.

Actually it doesn't bother very but whenever I looked at my watch up and close, I've noticed the minute hand a tad long. Also, it looks off when I'm used to seeing the minute hand on my other Rolex watches including 216270 Polar.

Overlaps the minute markers on the Speedmaster too. No problem with it myself.

The Black Bay is the correct length I feel, the standard Rolexes feel like having shorter minute hands.

That and it is my favorite feature of the Black Bay. There are several watches out there that I'd consider getting if they had larger hands. Short hands drive me crazy. I like long hands and I cannot lie.

The minute hand on the BB is pattered after the Tudor 7924 big crown sub.

I have always liked the fact that Rolex's second hand is long and almost touch the chapter ring. It makes the watch look more precise to me, as i can see the second hand in between the second markers.

The long minute hand is one of my favourite features of the BB, it looks especially good at the 3, 6, and 9 points on the dial.

That BB hand looks fine
I wish the hands on my DSSD and other Rolex models were a bit longer, to reach the minute marks, or even overlap a little
IWC seems to more consistently do this, such as with their pilot watch and Portuguese lines

As was already pointed out, this is a specific design point and is a throwback to the old Tudor big crowns, which had minute hands that reached the chapter ring. Take a look at the Rolex 6200, which I personally believe is the most spectacular sub design ever. That one not only had a very long minute hand that reached the chapter ring, but the hour hand was considerably longer, as well. You can really see it if you then compare it to the 6538 or 5510.

Anyway, this is a beautiful piece and there are a lot of references back to the vintage watches that inspired this piece. :D

From Jocke's image the shorter one looks better but then you'd have to actually shorten the hour hand a bit in my eyes.
All models seem to have something unique, this is the BB's unique trait.

Only issue I think I would have with the longer hand is that it would cover the second hash when I line it up to set the time. I wouldn't be sure if the second hand was properly centered to the hash mark.
