In this case, I say go with the Explorer II for Halloween since it has black and orange.

That wasn't me. That was engraved by the factory for the 22 Special Air Service Rgt in the UK. Rolex made 100 of them for active serving members of the Rgt and they also engraved the case back with the winged Dagger badge if the regiment as well as the troopers ZAP svc number.

Think we've been through this on numerous threads here. Pretty sure Rolex didn't engrave the back and side. But was done by a 3rd party.

Do you/did you serve with the SAS? Cool if you did, otherwise hope you didn't pay a premium for the watch.

I know this has been on other threads but your information is wrong...the engraving was in fact all done by Rolex at home. The warranty card comes from Rolex London and not an AD. Rolex has made other limited editions including a DSSD for the Royal Navy Clearance Diving branch, the 'Octopus' Sommazatori, and for the SRR. All of these watches were modified by Rolex in Geneva. This follows in the tradition of COMEX issue watches. All trade at a premium. I am a big military history buff as well as a watch collector and thought it was a great blend of both as well as being basically under the radar. I own a COMEX as well and am not a saturation diver either. I have shown this watch to some active and former military personnel here in the states and they thought it was cool and wished Rolex had done something like that for their unit. I wear it for what it is, in my opinion, a cooler and rarer version of what's out there. As far as premium paid, I paid less than the numbers they are fetching at auction, which is a hefty premium. A premium that given the history of who it was initially made for and given the detail of the work as well as the small number made seems entirely justified. That's the beauty of this game...to each their own.

Rolex London is an AD.

It was covered here, so no need to repeat.

Rolex London is Rolex UK...not an AD or boutique. Just like the Winner's Daytonas are issued warranties from Rolex USA as opposed to an AD. It is well documented that these models I mentioned were done by the factory and not a third party. I have seen that thread before and its wrong...

Yes Adam, forgot about that thread when I first posted in this. And then noticed the OP had posted in that old thread as well.

Sorry for dragging it up again if that's what you're getting it?
