Any love for the champagne dial TT Daytona 116523 ?

A friend of mine got his hands over this brand new TT Daytona champagne dial with warranty dated 2008 and he doesn't feel like keeping it , still with all protective plastics. He offered me a very good deal , what do you guys think ? Is it worth it ? I don't see much champagne dials Daytona around so often and am a bit hesitated to pull the trigger , do you guys encourage me to pull the trigger or walk away ?

I voted no, but I'm rethinking. How good is the deal?

Personally, I like the TT Daytona and it does not get the attention it deserves. Also, you should make sure that you like it too before you pull the trigger on this one as there is not many things worse than buying something you are not sure about just because it is a "good" deal.

With that being said, what price is he offering you?

Thats my least favorite Daytona, but it's still a Daytona. Depends on how good the deal is

Just because a watch isn't commonly seen in public shouldn't be a reason not to buy. In fact, some might argue that such a watch is more desirable precisely because it isn't easy to find!

Having said that, I'm not saying you should buy simply because it's uncommon. Buy because it looks good on your wrist, if the price is right and it sings to you.

Best to check Ebay or other watch sites to get an idea of the market value of this watch.

I think the current price for a new piece from an AD is around US$15,000 (others who are better informed than me, please correct me if I'm wrong) but you would probably get a discount on that. My starting point would be that a new one would cost me about US$13,000.

Good luck.

Certainly an older model for being new with stickers. As the comments suggest TT is the least popular Daytona (and I own one). It really does not matter what we think it is what you think, the price seems reasonable. If you like the watch then buy it and enjoy it, personally I think it is a very classic looking Rolex, i feel that way about anything with a champagne dial, I guess it plays to my mental anchor of TT DJ's as what Rolex was all about. Hopefully Fabio ways in he has a Zenith movement one in that combination and loves it.

Don't ever buy a watch just to buy a watch - even if it is a great deal.

You'll always regret it at some point.

If you're not feeling it- it's better to wait.

It's a r so able price - and definitely has a classic look.

Just my .02

I fully understand that , I never lusted after this Daytona combo. But when I saw it with the price tag and being new and it's classic look hmmm I dunno it like a 50 % take it 50% walk away.

I think most of us can definitely relate to that perspective. But after a few 'misses' if you will --- you realize what you REALLY might want to chase after.

It's part of the watch collecting hobby... Or watch collecting 'illness' as my wife calls it. Lol

Not a fan of the modern day Daytona but prefer the TT over the SS mainly because of the different dial options. But its mainly the SS thats the biggest seller IMHO this was mainly down to the so called short supply of SS Daytona, back when it was launched 2000 they were selling for crazy money almost as much as new TT Daytona money.Perhaps this was down to owning and wearing a hard to get watch at retail, one of the main problems in the early days was those buying and flipping for nothing more than profit. Thus depriving many who genuinely wanted to own and wear the watch instead of seeing it as nothing more than £££££$$$$$ that was one of the reasons for short AD supply.

Looks like the poll result is going in the direction of a split between a yes and no for this piece

I personally like this reference and would buy it at a raging good price BUT I'm not you. Set the price aside and only buy it if it really sings to you.

Buy what you like. As for me, I love my two tone daytona.
Who cares what the masses prefer. It should be about you. As for a champagne dial, they are stunning. Have one on my Datejust and love it.

I personally do not like a champagne dial. I had one on a date just and flipped it right away. I did own a TT Daytona with a white stick dial. I loved the look but flipped it in trade for my grail. As for you buy what you love. A great deal is not good if you have regrets.

Not really a fan but it depends on how good the deal was. Certainly not something I would choose to purchase near retail. I think Daytonas look best in stainless or platinum

It's a "classic" look that NEVER goes out of style, regardless what of what "others" think! It's a winner
